Hello everyone!

Thanks to everyone here on VJ! This site has been so helpful and made our process so much easier!

We have our AOS interview on Tuesday this week! I'm terrified and excited that this process will be over with soon (well, at least for a while :P)

Because our interview is in an office over 200 miles away, we have to leave our apartment and drive to the city of our interview the day before.. (tomorrow!) Yikes!

So we're preparing for the interview and making DOUBLE sure we take everything we need, since we'll be so far away from home and not be able to just 'run home' if we forget anything. Here is a short list of everything we're taking with us to our interview.. Can someone with some experience here take a quick look at this and let me know if this looks about right or if i'm leaving anything out? I really really appreciate it! :)

* a copy of our entire AOS package that was submitted in Dec 2010

* originals of our passports, birth certificates, I 94, Visa, EAD document, marriage certificate, prior divorce decree

* two photo albums with family pictures, pics from our non formal casual wedding, birthdays, vacations, honeymoon, etc

* Our joint lease in both of our names

* Statements from our joint bank accounts (2 checking accounts)

* Canceled checks from our rent payments (checks in both of our names)

* 2 affidavits from my mother and a family friend declaring knowledge of our relationship and marriage

All of our utilities are included in our rent payments, (our electric, water, cable, etc) This IS stated in our joint lease.. so we don't have any other bills we can provide to USCIS. Also, we don't have car insurance in both of our names yet since my spouse doesn't have a valid SC driver's license yet. (He should be able to get this after receiving his GC)..

Does this seem like enough evidence of our relationship? Thank you so much for your responses!

Lindsay

Looks like have covered it all and then some.

Dress like you would go to a job interview and don't forget to pack the toothbrushes!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Looking good. Just go in confident and natural and everything will hopefully go well.

Good luck!

2010 Tax Return would be good, in addition to the 2010 W-2s. If relevant, proof of employment letter for your husband stating his salary and/or recent pay stubs.

Good luck!

So I would asume they told you on the spot you were approved?, i heard the norfork office in VA where i have to go, they usually don't aprove people on the spot...but i will let you guys know how my interview went!

Congrats again on the great job, and I wish you the best in life!

Thanks! We came with a Box (a Banker's box to be exact) with evidence of our relationship. She never asked to see any of that. The 2010 W2 was the only thing. :/ LOL! So i'm glad we brought it along. She did let us know that we were approved on the spot, yes. It was really REALLY nice to hear the word approved. She even said, 'Congratulations, You're now a legal permanent resident." I wrote up a full review in my time line for everyone to read if they like.

I think the reason we got approved on the spot is because our office was a supervisor. She was very nice but some of the IO's we saw coming and going did not look as nice. We even got an email about 2.5 hrs later that card production had been ordered! My best advice would be try to be as natural and calm as you can. I was a nervous wreck while we were there, so I know it's hard. I even burst into tears at the end of the interview. But the IO just handed me a box of tissues and smiled.

I'm sure your experience will be great. I wish you the best of luck!! :)
