Hello K1 Filers, Aug 20th 2010 when i sent my I 129F and as you can see from my timeline it has been 6 months. I did Have an RFE sent on February 26th which i had responded to on march 1st. My Question is, is it that time to contact my Senator, God knows I have been Patient and and I know I am not the only one filing, but any ideas, thoughts and advices are welcome, I am very nervous about the unrest in the middle east as my finance is from Syria.

Has anyone contacted their congressmen or senator, if so how did you prep your letter or should I just call then sign and email the privacy notice from their website...

Thanks

Mike

Getting that RFE is definitely progress. Since its been problably 2-2.5 weeks since they received your response I would call in and ask them what the status is. From what I have read it seems that most people get an answer soon after the RFE. Call in and ask and wait another week or so before contacting anyone. I know it is difficult but it seems like your case is moving along now and you would not want to waste the time and money contacting anyone if your petition is close to getting a decision.

Good luck and I hope you get your NOA2 soon!!:)

Yes, with the recent RFE it is too early to call your Senator. You need to give them enough time to review and process the information you submitted in response to the request. Most people hear a decision within a few weeks of sending back an RFE so I expect you will hear something in the very near future.

Just for future reference - to contact your Senator or Congressman you can initiate the process by downloading a permission action form from their website (most seem to have one there). Then you fill it in and send it to them (delivery by mail or by fax) and do a follow up call to confirm they received it. They need to have a signed legal statement from you authorizing them to investigate your personal circumstances. The process is pretty straight forward. You can certainly call first to let them know to expect it but nothing happens until they receive the form.
