CFO an Important Requirement

from time to time I've noticed some members are unaware of the requirement of the Philippine Govt. that fiances and spouses of Foreign Nationals are required to attend the seminar and have the sticker in their passport to depart the Philippines. I thought it may be an idea for someone to create a thread which would outline the process and maybe we could get it pinned. so, anyone want to get the ball rolling?

Make sure also, fiancee and spouses knows their man educational background. Be defensive, if they ask you why your man get divorce.

How do I get the CFO sticker for my fiancee daughter she will accompany when the visa is approved? She's only 2 years old and dont have any ID except for birth certificate and Phil Passport which I told my fiancee to get ahead of time.

Also can the CFO sticker be obtained after the interview or before since I think at the interview the Embassy keeps the passports and send them back 1 week later by carrier with the Visa if approved.

And a reminder, makes sure your fiancée knows your mother's maiden name before she goes to the seminar. That may save a panic inspired long distance call!

Yeah I remember, almost everybody was calling their petitioners to asked for the mother's maiden name.

It is kinda strict in Cebu, it was a nun who conducted the seminar (when I attended last year), she was giving more focus on the age gap of the petitioner and beneficiary. They also going to question about the reason of the divorce, etc etc. How sure you are in going to US, how well you know the person, etc...one on one interview...

Those who are 12 years old and under are not required to attend the CFO seminar: my link.

Who are exempted from pre-departure registration?

All Filipino emigrants leaving the country to settle abroad permanently are required by law to register with CFO. No one is exempted from pre-departure registration.

But the following are not required to attend the pre-departure orientation seminar and to be personally present during the registration (they can also be registered by proxy):

Minors 12 years old and below

Senior citizens 60 years old and above

Those with mental illness or psychiatric disability, and incapacitated due to permanent or long-term ailments

The CFO sticker can be obtained only after the interview when the beneficiary receives the passport back from the Embassy and the passport has the visa in it.

Im pretty sure I read on this forum that everyone including children would require to have a CFO sticker attached to the visa/passport before they are allowed to depart MNL.

I think it said cuz the child is only 2 years old she doesn't need to actually go thru the seminar but is required to pay the fee 650p and obtain the sticker.

My fiancee actually already went thru the CFO seminar before her interview but Im not sure if they actually attached a sticker to her passport or she would need to go back after the interview and get the sticker.

I would have told her to get the CFO for the child at the same time but she wasn't sure if she wanted to bring the child or to follow later.

maximus...You bring up a good question...even though the child isn't required to complete the CFO seminar, is the child still required to have a CFO sticker in their passport. I hope someone will come along and answer that question.

The CFO won't issue your wife a sticker unless she has her visa. Your wife needs to get the CFO sticker after her interview when the Embassy sends her passport (with visa) back to her.

the child is required to register with CFO and have the sticker in the passport. like the mom, this would be done when visa is in the passport. the fee to register only is 400p.

We also have had members in the past who never did CFO and it wasn't checked at the airport...........

CFO is a scam, just like departure Tax they charge at Manila 750 peso or $17.50.

Could someone answer this question for me?

If my fiancee already has her K1-Visa, can she do the Seminar and get her stamp all on the same day? Is there any kind of waiting in between?

Thank you in advance!

If she goes to St Marys she will get the seminar and sticker all there but if she goes to taft Ave. she will only get the seminar there and then they send you across town to another place where you ahve to fill out paperwork and wait wait wait and then finally get the sticker.

My wife went to taft Ave...we did not know any better and what a miserable long day...9am she entered Taft Ave and finished at the buildingb across town at 4:30pm ...no break or time for lunch...They can demand anything they want from you at the CFO and if you do not produce you get denied the seminar certificate. This is why I had my wife take a copy of everything she took to the Embassy interview. Good thing coz they wanted a copy of my divorce decree but they would, not copy it on their Dime they wanted us to go pay to have it copied and come back. I told them to keep the copy my wift brought coz I had several other cretified copies at my home in USA.

Good Luck!!!!!!
