Karencee Good point. Maybe he should just tell them he thinks he could have it. Either way, if it's ok for him to have HSV2 it doesn't really matter. If it's not ok, then whether he knows now or not we've gotta figure out what's going to happen.

*hugs* Hope this all works out for you and your fiancé.

I think this is a situation that would have been better to keep to yourself, Just make a decision that suits you and do what you think is best. I see its easy for some to express their "holier than thou" position. I do not have it but chances are, someone posting will have it someday and then I'd like to see which end of the soapbox they stand on.

Good Luck

When you fiance gets here and have to go thru the Civil Surgent I am sure they will test ofr sall of that. I do know they do an Aids test. Like everyone else said when he goes to the doctor all he has to say is my fiancee has herpes type ? and how would this effect me. Not necessarily. When my fiancé entered the country, he didn't have to go through a civil surgeon for a new medical as his was still current. He had his medical in his home country and all the tests were done there. The only time I know of that one has another medical upon entering the country is if the medical done for the K1 interview is over a year old and has expired, or if the civil surgeon one chooses to fill out the Vaccination Supplement (I-693a) requires a new one to be had. At least this was our experience.

Found this about health related waivers: "an alien who is determined (in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services) to have a communicable disease of public health significance, which shall include infection with the etiologic agent for acquired immune deficiency syndrome."

I don't think that Herpes classifies as a "communicable disease of public health significance". TB, yes, but not Herpes. Or as you said, unless your fiance was planning to colonize the US singlehandedly. ;)

I agree! If your fiance is comfortable with assuming that he doesn't have it and just forgetting about it for now, I think that might be your best plan. Since you're not having the exam, and it isn't in the category of AIDS, I don't see how that could be a problem. I wish you good luck too! Don't worry.
