My wife and I had our interviews and oath ceremony in Seattle today :) We had separate interviews. My wife was interviewed by a nice pregnant asian lady. My wife had our three kids with her. The IO was very nice and made my wife relax. She actually drew things with my 4 1/2 year old son!

My IO was determined to try to shake me up. As we were walking to the interview room, he asked me if I have a lawyer. Then, he asked me if I'm nervous. I said yes a little bit. Then he asked if I had a reason to be nervous :) I said absolutely not, it is an important milestone and it is natural to be nervous a little bit. After I swore to tell the truth, he went through my application line by line. At the begininning, he told me now is a good opportunity to correct anything that I might have miss represented. His questions might seem innocent to you, but his tone of voice and body language give a different impression.

By the way, Seattle is not a good place to do a name change. I was told their office does not do this process. If I decided to change my name, my oath ceremony would've been months from now. The IO told me that I need to apply for a name change in a court then provide USCIS with the proof and then they would issue my citizenship certificate. I saw no advantage for doing this now, so I decided not to change the spelling of my name now and do it later.

In any case, I'm glad to say I'm an American Citizen today :thumbs: It's been such a long journey and I'm just happy today :D

Congratulations Sarhan! Eventhough you had a tough IO, I'm glad it all went smoothly still and that you did not let the IO shake you up. Congratulations again! The journey has ended. Welcome fellow US citizen.

10/01/2010: Application was sent.

10/04/2010: Application was received.

10/06/2010: Email received "Application has been received" & Noticed Date.

10/07/2010: "Touch"

10/08/2010: "Touch" & Check was Cashed

10/09/2010: NOA1 Received via mail.

10/22/2010: Status Changed Online "Request for evidence" It was for Biometrics.

10/25/2010: Request for evidence recieved "Biometrics Notice".

11/18/2010: Biometrics date ==> 11:00AM. Biometrics was taken On time.

12/03/2010: "Yellow Letter" Received.

12/06/2010: "Touch" Case Moved to "Testing and Interview".

12/08/2010: Interview Letter received via mail.

01/13/2011: Interview Date. Done, " Thanks To ALLAH, I Passed the Test.

01/18/2011: Oath Letter was Sent.

01/20/2011: Oath Letter Recieved via mail.

01/28/2011: Oath Date. ==> Done, I am a U.S. Citizen

01/31/2011: Applied for a U.S. Passport Book, And, U.S. Passport Card.

02/25/2011: Passport Book's Received.

02/26/2011: Passport Card's Received.

02/28/2011: Certificate Of Naturalization's Returned.

Weird, a new one on me, they interviewed both of you? Wifes' IO couldn't even turn her head when I said hello, like I wasn't even there, even pinched myself to make sure I wasn't a ghost.

But my wife told me, she did want to see my original birth certificate and divorce papers, plus all of our legal documents with both our names on it. Kind of reminded me of Nazi Germany, let me see your papers, but the hell with me.
