I've gone over Items 1 to 41 of the DS-156 (Non-Immigrant Visa Application) form and I have queries on a number of items:

1. Question No. 8 - Other Surnames Used.

Query: If a person was previously married (now divorced or annulled), does she have to write her old (married) surname?

2. Question No. 26 - How Long Do You Intend to Stay in the US?

Query: How did you answer this question?

3. Question No. 32 - Do you Intend to Work in the US? (If Yes, give the name and complete address of employer)

4. Question No. 33 - Do you Intend to Study in the US? (If Yes, give the name and complete addres of the school)

Query: If you intend to do both but do not yet have a prospective employer or school, how would you answer Questions 32 and 33?

Check this for guidance: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-156.pdf

1. I don't know.

Here's how I answered those questions:

2. Permanently

3. Yes, after being authorized to do so. Employer to be determined.

4. I guess you could answer to convey that you do but haven't made plans yet.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

1. Question No. 8 - Other Surnames Used.

Answer: Yes because it helps them when researching background.

2. Question No. 26 - How Long Do You Intend to Stay in the US?

Query: How did you answer this question?

Answer: PERMANENTLY

3. Question No. 32 - Do you Intend to Work in the US? (If Yes, give the name and complete address of employer)

Answer: NO "not comming to USA on a work visa"

4. Question No. 33 - Do you Intend to Study in the US? (If Yes, give the name and complete addres of the school)

Answer: NO again "not comming to USA on a student visa"

Query: If you intend to do both but do not yet have a prospective employer or school, how would you answer Questions 32 and 33?

NO and NO since the visa is a fiance visa these do not apply. Once the benificiary becomess perminate resident then can work on a work permit and/or go to school. The purpose of comming to USA it to marry or be with spouse, not work or school. Understand the I-156 form is used with more than fiance visas, so will have questions relating to the other visas.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

However, I don't see any harm in answering according to what you intend to do. The purpose of the visa is to marry the petitioner, but the beneficiary can still answer those questions according to their plans.

LadyJustice,

I've gone over Items 1 to 41 of the DS-156 (Non-Immigrant Visa Application) form and I have queries on a number of items:

1. Question No. 8 - Other Surnames Used.

Query: If a person was previously married (now divorced or annulled), does she have to write her old (married) surname?

If she used that surname. Isn't that what the question is asking for?

2. Question No. 26 - How Long Do You Intend to Stay in the US?

Query: How did you answer this question?

By writing how long I (my wife, actually) intended to stay. What is your intention? I'm sure you have one.

See the answer to #2. Write down what your intentions are. If something is unknown, or uncertain, or to be determined, say so.
