I received today this e-mail and its a bit confusing since it's pretty much what they had already said in the NOA they sent me before, the only different thing is that they say my case was transfered to the CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER and I check USCIS website and it says I was touched today but it says my case is in Initial review.. and thats how its been since I first got my receipt number. Is this normal? does this mean my case will start moving a bit faster? and I only received this email my adjustment of status.. no word on my work permit or travel document ..thanks everything

On March 4, 2011, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

When AOS petitions are sent to the California Service Center then the odds are pretty high that it will be adjudicated without an interview. This might not save you time since some field offices go through interviews quite a bit faster than CSC processes petitions, but it does mean you'll probably not have to deal with an interview.

Yeah, your case was transfered to CSC. It took CSC about 5 weeks to process my case after transfer. Just like the above poster mentioned, there's a pretty high chance that you get approved without an interview. Best of luck!

well I hope Im not request to have an interview!.. anyway.. Now what about my work permit ? was it transfered to the CSC along with my I-485?.. Im ok waiting a little bit longer for my greencard.. but I need my work permit now .. do you think it will take a long time too?

I think only AOS cases get transfered at CSC. My AP and EAD were approved 2 weeks before my GC, but it still took just a bit less than 3 months (83 days)
