Hello! I found this website on google.

I'm currently in India, beneficiary. I want to find how what is going on and how to find status of my case.

I emailed NVCInquiry@state.gov, and got very vague response. I called my sister and they have already paid the fees to NVC and I am waiting on next step.

"Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

Unfortunately, a visa number is not presently available for the beneficiary. The reason for this delay is that there are more applicants for visas than there are immigrant visa numbers available under the limitations prescribed by law. For some visa categories, for example F3 (married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens) or F4 (brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens), this delay could be lengthy."

Case Number: BMB******

Beneficiary's Name:

Preference Category: F4

Your Priority Date: 01Jun2007

Foreign State Chargeability: INDIA

CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT

LINCOLN HOUSE, 78 BHULABHAI DESAI RD

MUMBAI 400026

INDIA

Can you please help me understand what is going on..thanks.

You are mistaken. No fees has been paid to the NVC. Your sister paid a fee to USCIS to file the I-130 petition.

Your Priority Date is 2007. The current PD is 2000. This means that you have years to go before the NVC will collect any fees from your family.

There are more people who want to come to the US than there are available visas. That is why people have to wait 10 years for visas.
