Hi everyone. My fiance and I are currently in the process of waiting for the U.S Consulate in Nigeria to contact us about the preparatory packet. Does anyone know how they would get in touch with us because i know presently that the mailing system in nigeria is bad. and can we go ahead and start the medical examination and the other processes before they contact us to speed things up?

Have you checked the embassys website for your country? They may have the package to download online, you could also download the forms from USCIS and fill them out early.

Second the embassy in Lagos will not be mailing you pkt3 or pkt4 they send it in an email here is the link http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html you can go ahead and download the forms from that link and start working on the documents and yes you can start the medical all the info you need for the medical is in the link and there is also info on getting the police clearance although you can wait on that one if you like until after you get your interview date. Also it normally takes Lagos about 2 to 3 weeks to email you with an interview date once your pkt reaches the embassy. You can always call (DOS) Dept. of State to find out if an interview date has been assigned Good Luck!!!!!

Thanks joyjoy! Ur so right been there done that........Keep in mind when u call DOS that it is possible that your not going to have an interview date 1 in a half weeks is pretty quick for them to assign an interview. Meanwhile start working on the forms in pkt 3 it will keep u busy until Lagos assigns u an interview date. Good luck
