Sa mga ka-VJ na dumaan na sa K1 visa process...

It's been more than 2 weeks since we sent our I-129 pack and we haven't received anything yet (our check has not been encashed too.) So I asked my guy to call USCIS yesterday to inquire. They told him it might take as long as 1 month before we get our NOA1. (Hoping not an RFE.)

So, my questions: 1. Is it ok if I work on the other requirements like NBI, police clearance, visa pics, evidence etc. even if we haven't received our NOA's yet?

2. Will the dates on the documents matter/be too early?

3. Are there other things I should work on first while waiting for the NOA's?

I'm trying to work on the wedding details, as well, but there's only so much I can do because everything else is dependent on the visa approval.

I just want to make the most of my "waiting period."

Thanks!

I would hold off on getting your NBI and police clearances until you have your NOA2 notice or e-mail. Just keep up with your communication and evidence of relationship. It could be 5-6 months until you get your NOA2 and typically the police clearances are 6 months...some are 12 months, but it is best to get them closer to the end of the journey.

If you're very lucky, you can have it in a month, 3-4 or 5 or worst case scenario is 6,7,8,9. it depends!

NBI clearance validity is 1 year but it would be much better if you obtain a current one say atleast few weeks before youre expected interview?

Same with CENOMAR/CEMAR & birth cert, although these docs doesnt have date validity its best if they're newly issued.

I'm a little surprised your check is not cashed yet. Did you follow the instructions and attached all the necessary documents? If you did not follow the instructions your petition might be returned without cashing your check. However, If your are going to get RFEs for incomplete documents, your check should be cashed and you get your NOA 1 usually in 1 to 3 weeks.

Thank you everyone!

Tero-> I think we followed everything. I couldn't think of any mistakes we've made. Unless my guy forgot something cuz he's the last one who checked and sent the pack.

I asked my fiance to inquire if the check has been cashed so he called his bank yesterday and it's not.

I noticed that most of the VJ K1 applicants got their NOA within a week, so it's making me a bit worried/nervous.

I wouldn't panic yet. Give them one more week then check again. I think my NOA 1 took 3 weeks.

hi lovelyjoy, I waited for my NOA1 for almost 2 weeks and when it got into my bf's mail there's an RFE with it. They didn't send us any e-mail or text to notify that they received our package, even though we sent our package with G-1145 neither they cashed the cheque. Reason is he put a postdated date on the cheque...but anyways, I think waiting period is 3 weeks before you can call them and check. If you also sent the package with Delivery Confirmation maybe you can also check that.....don't worry darating din yan :)

Geee I hope he didn't write the wrong date. Nakalimutan pa man din n'yang i-fill out yung G-1145 form. Kaya we have no way of tacking it unless we get something from the mail or call them. Thanks Barn and Cean! :)
