For those of you who are also separated by oceans, how did you all connect?

As for me, we sent each other Valentine e-cards and chatted on skype some. It's just not the same. Yesterday was Valentines and tomorrow is his birthday and I really wish I could be there. Actually....even more, I wish he was here. It seems like every day that goes by is harder than the last.

My friends at work this morning were talking about what their husbands did for them yesterday......where they went out to eat, or they got flowers, or....blah blah. And I just would be so excited just to know he is there when I get home.

I know many of you, like me had to do two rounds of this. Does it get any easier?

I know many of you, like me had to do two rounds of this. Does it get any easier?

I know it sounds overly simplistic, but what I did during the process was concentrate on preparations for his arrival; I worked a lot (let's face it, money helps!), and I also spent a lot of time working on myself (gym, facials, etc), also spent time reading, spending time with friends, etc because I knew that once I got married, I'd have a lot less time to devote solely to myself.

That relationship actually didn't work out (for other reasons), but at the same time, now that I am married with a baby, I appreciate the fact that I had that time to myself.

We didn't celebrate any sort of holidays while we were apart. It just wasn't worth the trouble or heartbreak. Like Lisa C. said, I kept myself busy doing things for me or went out with gfs or my family during holidays. Fast forward 4 years later - my husband is with me in the states and we did nothing for V-day yesterday. I'm currently in the throws of all day sickness and I was not in the mood to celebrate.

At least you get to see each other on Skype. As for me and my fiance, there are now very few times when I can actually see him. He needs to go to the internet cafe and those cameras are not the best and do not have sound. Also, in his country the electricity outages are an every day sort of thing, so that makes it even harder. We communicate by phone ALL the time (my phone and Skype bills are quite ridiculous), but it is not the same at all. I am now looking forward to my upcoming trip of 10 days. It will be the first time ever that I am looking forward to Spring break!

I painted the whole inside of my house and bought new fabrics in Moroccan colors, cleared out a closet for him and put new clothes in it so he would have nice new things when he got here. I had all my deposits on a whole nice wedding paid for and lost it all when his interview went bad.

We used to get to talk on Skype everyday and see each other. He's had two computers go down now so he has to use internet cafe and by the time I get off work, it's almost too late for him to go there with the time difference. So now talking on Skype is a luxury I used to take for granted.

I guess that gym thing is a good idea. It's something I have neglected recently. Maybe I'll rejoin today.

The gym is a great idea. I saw a PT and went to the gym a lot while waiting for my husband. It did help keep my mind off things and it helped blow off steam when I was frustrated with AP. I was at the gym when I got the call from my husband telling me he got his visa.

We don't usually do anything to celebrate days like Valentine's. When he was in Morocco he would email me pictures of flowers........I always thought that was sweet.

I love the suggestion of going to the gym. Oh how I wish now that I had done that. Once they get here it seems theres not much time for things like that.

We called eachother on the phone and wished eachother Happy Valentines day. We also sent eachother E-cards too. Even though it was Valentiens day this holiday wasn't as tough as it was New Years and Thanksgiving because we had spent those together last year. Though knowing that soon we may get our NOA2 I think helps alot.

i had school for a distraction. having no personal life outside of school, save for my son, made it a lot easier to not obsess about visa stuff. it was actually on valentine's day 4 years ago that i got a call from my husband telling me the consulate had called him that afternoon to come pick up his visa. i'd been up since like 4 am, and had been in clinical all day long, so it was definitely a nice treat to get that phone call. lol that i still remember that, and get all sappy about it. how corny is that!

I got an email that said happy v day but was also sick (still am) so it didn't bother me much. And missing all these little holidays to me aren't what they used to be, but I know when he gets home in a few weeks, inshallah, he will make up for lost time!

I sent my fiancee a couple love songs and talked to her on the phone. I have to say out of all the days we've spent apart yesterday was one of the most depressing
