Here is my story.. I just got married to a Norwegian here in the Phil. I applied for a tourist visa(B1) for a honeymoon trip this coming April. The consul asked me about my husband`s work and I answered her. And then she asked me `how about you?`.. since I resigned from my work.. I said I will be studying Norwegian while waiting for the Family Reunification in Norway. So to make the long story short, I got denied because of this: YOU DID NOT ESTABLISH THAT YOUR SOCIAL, FAMILY, AND ECONOMIC TIES OUTSIDE OF THE U.S ARE SUFFICIENT TO OVERCOME THE PRESUMPTION OF IMMIGRANT INTENT. We are planning to apply again but I need to know more about my situation.. so pls. help me.. I need your advice.. thanks..

I think you need to prove them you will not overstay in Norway when your visa expires. As such, you need to show strong ties back home to let them know you will go back home when your visa expires. Things like land titles, business, family, money in the bank, work; that will show them you don't intend to overstay in Norway and have plans of coming back home coz you have all those stuffs.

You just need to show your ties to your country.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hey sorry to hear that and goodluck to the next one. Anyway, I just wanted to ask how you scheduled yourself for an interview? Did you pay first or can you call anytime for appointment. My mother will apply for a tourist visa to US and I thought since there are many non-immigrant visa applicants, it would be better to call now so she can have an October slot. What are the requirements when you called? Thanks.

I would suggest going thru the scheduling online (US Embassy Manila website). That's what I did in 2008 when I applied for a tourist visa. It's easier and you can choose the date convenient for you based on the vacant days that they have and you can even reschedule if you need to.
