hi again! :)

this is a follow-up to my earlier post about how to contact my fiance once at POE. we've decided to use the calling card that he can buy from US and just give me the pin since Globe roaming is $2.00/min so not a very good idea. Now the question is, what's the calling card called? and is it good for any payphone or it's for a specific one only? im just not sure how it works there..thank you in advance for your help guys! :)

Any calling card will do but in my opinion the best calling card is AT&T . For About $20 --you can get about 60 long distance minutes(any part of the US) . He can buy the card and send you the 1800 number to dial first then the pin .Good luck .

The card is good for any pay phone and at any time of the day until the minutes are used up .Some providers may charge you a connection fee --maybe 2 or 3 units per call . Most pay phones at the airports are AT&T phones , but you can still use any phones and almost any calling cards sold in the US for domestic and long distance calls .

My thought is that, My fiancee is going to want her own cell phone as soon as she gets here anyway. So I would get the phone before she comes and then fed ex it to her. It cost her $30 to send papers to me and took 3 or 4 days. Im guessing it would cost about the same in reverse. It is not the cheapest method but it is the most convienient for her. Once the plane has landed you can call before

you get off the plane and there is the added benefit that he can call you.

I got an at&t prepaid card for $20 and it was 550 mins. Any prepaid calling card will be cheaper than using your globe phone. Have your fiance buy a pre-paid card in the US...then have him send you the access number and pin number. That is the best way to do it. That is what I did with my wife...she called me from Guam and Hawaii with no issues.

I got an at&t prepaid card for $20 and it was 550 mins--You get 550 UNITS not mins .It depends on the rate of the day --that determines how many mins you get . Most times it is 2-5 units equals 1 min long distance .

No if you use it in the US (state to state), you get 550 mins. This is a calling card I got from a military exchange (global prepaid card). It states on the card 550 mins of US state to state calling. International rates are higher. In-state rates may be higher.

If I were to direct dial from Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan to the US it would have been only 146 mins.

If you wanna call using calling cards I think you should just use epincall.com, buy maybe lucky card or bizon phone card, because att will run out of minutes like right away. I think att is good if you want to refill your cellphone, but for long distance use international calling cards, just check the rates on epincall you will see the big difference.

I think it better just to get a prepaid sim card, usa usage only, and ship it to her. Have her bring her phone then swap out the sim at the POE. Is quite possible she not like what you purchase for her [women's ideas about phones are not the same as the men's ideas, la]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This here. Much easier and will cost just as much. I already had a old prepaid phone and sim. Just need to reload it and mail her the sim in my next package going out. Using her current phone I already know all my contact info is in it and she knows how to use it.
