I filed an I-130 for my 1 year old son, and i'm wondering if his application would be processed the same way as CR-1/IR-1 applicants are once the application is approved and sent to NVC.

Yes it will be - nothing changes.

Correct me if I am wrong but for any kid who is a minor( under18 years) the petitioner needs to file I-864W instead of the regular I-864 which we file for the primary beneficiary which would be the spouse. I don't know if there is a waiver for AOS fee too.

No.. there's no waiver as long as the form is being reviewed in the USA then the fee applies.

You are correct the AOS document used will be the I864W because since the Petitioner is a US Citizen then the child will become a U.S. citizen immediately upon entry into th USA under the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 (CCA)
