Today is 5 months from when my NOA1 was processed. I haven't heard anything, and I've called a ton of times over the last while. They keep saying that there is no information they can give me.

Do you guys think it'll make any difference to call again tomorrow? Will they tell me the same thing? I'd like to have some sort of indication that things are still on track, but I know that they are very secretive about everything.

Also, this is not really a procedure question, but is anyone aware of where they are at right now? My NOA1 was issued on Sept. 2. Anyone think I'll get some word in the next couple weeks? My fiancee doesn't have internet where she is, so she's depending on me to get everything done.

Thanks

Call. 5 months is the magic day. As of that day, they consider your call to be legitimate. It still may take some effort to get somebody with useful information, as the tier 1 operators are virtually useless, but at least they won't just blow you off because you are not at 5 months.

Lately, they have been moving much faster, but we need to remind them that we are still out here and expect them to continue moving at this new higher speed.

So please call and join in the chorus of those of us who expect them to keep moving.

Update for people. I'm sure this happens to everyone. I called the office to ask about my file being outside the normal processessing time, 5 months, as they had been telling me to do all along. They countered by saying that the real processing time is actually 41 days longer than the time posted online, and that they are now processing files from July 24. So I need to wait 41 more days before I can call again. I asked if I could submit a request to hurry my petition through, and they replied that I can't since I am within the normal processing time, which is longer than the processing time that they still have posted online.

Oh well. There's really nothing I can do but wait and try to be patient. My only (rhetorical) question is, why don't they just post a longer processing time online? It's like an airline that says that a plane will depart on time when they know well enough that it won't take off until an hour after it's scheduled to depart. It messes with your expectations.

Is this the same situation everyone else has found themselves in?

Today is 5 months for us too. I called USCIS and at first she seemed really helpful - she said, yes she would put in a service request right away, but then she got stopped by a pop-up that said same thing you guys are saying - they are processing applications from July 24 and they are 45 days outside of normal limits...She said I was welcome to call back and speak with a supervisor but that there were none available at the moment. Very skilled at pushing me away.

This is really stressful.

Wow! Is that really what they are saying now? Maybe they just wantedd to blow you off. Any body else heard this? Just does not add up to know some September filers already got ahead.

Wow I can't believe that!! All I know is I work for a different part of the Federal Government and if I were 45 days behind on my work...my boss would be PISSED!! I don't understand how they can be so behind and expect people to keep their lives on hold? And I'm sure once an office is that far behind...there's no catching up.

Sorry for your frustrations, but thanks for the information. At least I know that my "5 months" will be more like 6 and then some. Good luck!! (F)

I called at the 4 1/2 month mark, the 5 month mark, and the 6 month mark...each time the I had the same answer.. wait 14-30 days... I called my Senator at the 5 1/2 month mark and they were told it would take two weeks and I would get an answer if not call them back afterwards. I also emailed VSC about the 5 3/4 month mark... I finally got my NOA2 the 2nd of Feb. (6 months 4 days) Feel free to call and ask the question! They can only tell you to wait! It helped me to know that I was actively trying to seek an answer... it also helped my fiancee's peace of mind also! Just be polite and ask to speak to a supervisor! Don't forget to write down who you spoke too! Good luck! Eventually the wait does end!
