Questions, questions! It's so wonderful to have this forum as a resource so I'm not listening to an automated system...

ANYWAYS, I just got confirmation that the NVC received my husband's choice of agent form. I payed the AOS fee, and we have the invoice for the Immigrant Visa Bill. Now... my question is this.

Will I receive the I-864 package even though we haven't payed the Immigrant Visa Bill yet? The bill is so huge so it's probably going to take me a month or two (since my previous company still hasn't given me my W-2 I was depending on) to get the funds. I want this to go perfectly and as quickly as possible so I was hoping I would get this package before and fill that out while I'm waiting for my Husband and I to get the money for the bill.

The NVC is closed today due to the weather so.. I just had to ask an actual person. I really appreciate the help!

It seems a little .. ridiculous that they want so many fees all at once when you've barely done anything. It's just... ungh agitating in this U.S. economy.

You have to send the AOS package to NVC. Once you have paid the AOS bill log on to the NVC payment portal and print the bar-coded cover sheet and send in your tax return.

check out this link for more info. Follow the NVC steps

I never recieved an AOS / IV package. I paid both AOS and IV bills and had the barcode sheets ready by mid December. I waited patiently for a month with no physical package, until I finally decided to reestablish contact with the NVC. They then emailed me back with links to the online instructions for AOS and IV packages.

I don't even know if they are supposed to send the printouts by snail-mail but I never recieved anything. So whenever you get the chance to pay the IV bill and obtain the barcode, I would suggest going ahead and sending the package back ASAP.

You dont need to get a 'physical' package from the NVC. Once you have paid the AOS bill, a cover sheet should be available online for you to download and print and include with the package to be sent.

Correct. All of our correspondence came from the NVC via email. All of the forms were available on the sign in page once each prior bill was paid and had cleared. I received their first invoice via email, paid it, waited for payment to clear, and then downloaded the 864 form. I then received the bill (via email) for the DS-230 form. We never received anything from the NVC via regular mail, it was all done online. Good luck!
