I have a question: I have received NOA2 and I have NVC receive date January 27. I want to make sure that interview in Russian consulate is scheduled for the earliest possible date. What document from me do they need to receive to schedule interview? What triggers consulate to actually schedule interview? Thank you for your help!

They do not need anything from you. It is done automatically and they will tell you the date of the interview. They are supposed to list the date of the interview by case number on the embassy website, but I am not sure if they have been doing that lately. You can e-mail the embassy or call NVC to find out the date.

My information is that Moscow has been running about 60 days.

Start getting your documents together, but don't sign anything yet, and the USC's financial documents need to be current when the alien goes, so sit on those for now.

Depending on where the alien is in Russia, police certificates might take time. Big cities move pretty fast, but if a small town police dept. is on the list, better start asking for them now.

Look here for what the Moscow Embassy web site says about how to prepare for the interview: http://moscow.usembassy.gov/fiancee.html

This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV
