Okay, my CR-1 interview is a few hours away.....and although my daughter is not part of my application(because she already has her US passport), i want to know if taking her with me to the interview will be of any advantage. For one, she is going to be an extra burden for me(since my baby sitter will not be allowed into the consulate), and i will prefer to leave her at home if her presence will not change anything. I will appreciate your advise. Thanks...

From what I've heard from most other consulates, it doesnt make a difference bringing your USC child. But then we are talking about Almighty Lagos consulate...

Hopefully someone with firsthand experience about this will come along and answer...Good luck!

Taking your child to the interview is not as important as having a DNA test for the child and the father. What really matters is to have a paternity test so they can allow you travel with the child. If you have not done this already, they will most likely ask you to go do it, which would cause another couple of months delay. You should send them an email asking them directly and do as you are told. They usually respond to emails within 2-3 business days.

She'll know soon enough without sending any emails. Her interview is in a few hours. No need to take the child to the interview but I would take the child's passport and CRBA.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Hi Tero,

I and my husband(the CR-1 petitioner) were at our daughters CRBA interview and her paternity has already been determined with evidence that she is a product of our relationship, hence she was issued a US passport, hence there is no DNA issue. Now my husband has petitioned for me(spouse visa) and my interview is a few hours away. i only wanted to know if taking our daughter will be a boost to my own interview.

Answer is no, they do the work through "papers and evidences" not from some "opera". Take the DNA result with you and the passport of the child as the evidence for the relationship, they might as well ask u to take DNA test with your child then u will get pink 100%. Sometime they ask for the test if there isnt enough evidence, sometime they won't.

No, you do not have to go with your baby. They cannot interview her, but go with all her documents including any copies of the DNA result, passpoort, birth certificate etc. Good luck.

Just returned from my Interview. I WAS APPROVED!!!!!

The CO was asking me questions of how i met my husband, and was trying to twist my responses..........but i found a way to mention to him that we have a daughter. Then he asked, why is she not here? i brought out her CRBA cert + US passport + birth certificate and told him she was already a US citizen, from then on, he calmed downed and every other question was pretty much regular...like phone records, e-mails, and pictures.. i will post the full review in my timeline shorthly. I am glad i did not take our daughter with me and the wait was really long and stressful.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
