just hung up with USCIS rep. he actually was a very nice guy. went thru the standard questions.....he stated VSC was currently processing apps thru 2-28-11 and although we were only 6 days out (2-22-11) he would submit a service request for us. he took a bunch of info and gave me a confirmation number. stated we would hear something in about 30 days. we'll see.

So i received another email from USCIS; September 30, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. A few days ago I received an email stating that on sept. 20 they ordered the production of the green card.. They can't come to an agreement lol..,

So I was reading that I can apply 90 days before the actual day I'm eligible for citizenship for me I think that's in December!! And I'm thinking what a waste of money adjusting status is..

Just figured I'd post an update to our case,

We were approved and production was ordered on our card on August 17th, and now October 1st (46 days later) we are still waiting for its arrival.

The online status and telephone status states "please allow 30 days" However, the letter that we received in the mail states "please allow 60 days"

So we are assuming that we will end up getting the card on day 59...

But, we still plan on giving USCIS a call this week to see what they say.

I just called but there is no one to speak to on the weekend.

At least we were approved, but the waiting continues...

Yep. I become eligbible on December 20th, off the top of my head (Mar 18th - 90 days...). I'm starting to wonder if I'm even going to have a 10yr GC before I file it (not that I'm likely to file it in late December - other things to spend $700+ on )... Yes, RoC is really a waste of money - they didn't used to have it. Officially it was added to deter marriage fraud but the cynic in me (and I'm a huge cynic ) wonders if it was more about inserting another payday for the government into the process....

One question, have you moved since AOS, if so did you file AR-11?

Yeah, It may prevent some marriage fraud, but is all about money at the end of the day. I'm going to do the citizenship just because I won't need visa to travel to other countries that required me to have visa cuz of my nationality.. )

Oh I'll almost certainly apply, just not the very moment I become eligible. December is expensive enough already

I have a question though, if anybody knows. If you submit the application in the 90 days preceeding your eligibility date, do they stick it in the processing queue right away or do they just sit on it until your eligibility date?

I don't know that's a good question! But the logical thing would be for them to start the process, u know move on with the process.

$595 plus $85 biometric fee. How many times do they have to take ur finger prints?? Does a person finger prints change over time or something?

haha I was wondering the same thing. Why did my husband have to get fingerprinted at AOS and again for ROC only two years later?

Because they want to make sure he hadn't swapped places with somebody else in the meantime, literally Appearances can change, fingerprints do not

Also, because it drives a whole extra level of bureaucracy (the ASC's), something every government needs to do - there must be MORE BUREAUCRACY!
