I don't know whether I should write this in English or Croatian but due to our US fiancées I'll start in in English!

I've noticed there is no Croatian topic though our neighbor countries have theirs and I'm also aware of the fact there is not a lot of Croatian USCIS cases.

But , feel free to make your comments and questions about everything ( God knows I'll ask a lot ) and it will be so much easier for all of us if we would exchange our experiences !

So, hello to everyone !

Nice to see you on here! Yeah, I've been checking that out, not many Croatian cases at all!! Though my fiance currently lives in Chile now, he is 1/2 Croatian and lived his entire youth in Belgrade, his very first years in Sibenik. We met because we share the "Croatian" part. Still have to have a Serbian police report for him for the interview because he was still living there at 16.

woow, i didn't know that :D God forbid if someone would use their native language wacko.gif

I have a similar problem like your fiance.

My parents didn't know they have to ''deregister'' me from Bosnia and Herzegovina, though i lived there until i was 3-4 years old only cause they worked there, after they moved back to Croatia i went to elementary and high school here , i mean , i live here all of my life , but i ''deregistered'' myself when i was 17 , and i wouldn't know all of that until that moment, now i don't know whether i need a police records from Bosnia and Herzegovina though i didn't live there, it's impossible cause if i was, i would be there illegally ( no ID or passport due to i am a Croatian citizen not their and i was a minor ).

what to do ???

Well, I think the information states that you will need to have police reports from all places LIVED since the age of 16. So if you did not live in Bosnia/Herzegovina at 16, you don't need a police report. Don't quote me on it, but that's how I understand it. The best bet is to check with the embassy/consulate in which you will interview. They can be very helpful. Get the email address for the embassy and write your concerns down to them.

Vinko was only a permanent resident while living in Belgrade, not a citizen...he did not give up his Chilean citizenship, so I don't think the status of citizenship matters.

Thanks, hopefully I'll manage somehow to solve that with the embassy in Croatia :)

My biggest worry now is that it's been 147 days since our NOA1 and still nothing...

I saw from your story you have some Croatian roots... it is quite amazing how you guys met and both are partially Croatian :)

I also saw you got RFE , if i may know , what was it about ?

It looks like according to timelines that your NOA2 is coming soon, plus I already know someone who's NOA1 was 8/30/10 and they got theirs this week.

If you are signed up for receiving text messages and emails on status changes on the USCIS website, that works very handy for knowing what is up and coming. You can call the customer service number and convince them to give you a higher level of customer service, but the information the immigration officer will give you will not coincide with when they will actually send your information. There seems to be lag time in when your information is processed and when it actually gets sent in the mail.

My RFE was about not showing enough evidence that I met my fiance in the last two years; I sent a buttload of pictures, and I sent my boarding passes, but they want to see something with the year in it and neither of those things do. I sent all the pages of my passport with my stamps showing I went to Chile, my receipts for my plane tickets, and online bank account transactions showing that I withdrew money from my account while in Chile. My RFE was responded to within the week that I sent it and received my NOA2 shortly after.

I have a feeling you are next!

I developed more interest in my Croatian roots after my youngest son was born. A friend of mine saw this on Facebook and told me about Vinko, knowing that along with the roots that I spoke Spanish. The friendship went from there, and it evolved into what it is now!

Yay! Thank you for starting this post. I'm feeling very partial to Croatia, obviously b/c my fiance is from there. Thanks for keeping it in English though anyways, because my Croatian is bad (nonexistent).

Seems like a silly question...I know there are places for me to be able to write his name in Hrvatski. But on the initial page of the i-129f petition form, should I write it out phonetically? (i.e. Srdjan or Srdan) Such a small detail, but I'm being careful of it all. lol

...also...Lisa

When you sent in your boarding passes, did you send in copies of it? Or the actual boarding passes? I'm weary of sending in the originals, as I'd like to keep them in case something happens or my fiance needs them for his interview.

...on a completely random note...

I'd give anything to have enough money to make it to Dubrovnik this summer and have enough for the visa process and a wedding. hahahaahah. I love it there far too much.

Hi !

I think you should write it as : SRDJAN , cause that's the way they're going to write it on his ID later in USA , and that's the correct way.

and in section 16 you write it as Srđan :)

Consider yourself as lucky for already seeing Dubrovnik, I'm from Croatia but i've never been there yet :)

i know it's beautiful and whoever goes there ones will always come back but i also know it's very expensive there to buy things and eat out !blink.gif

Don't worry about your Croatian, it's a very hard language even for us Croats whistling.gif

My fiance is learning it slowly , for now he knows how to say words that he can't use in public no0pb.gif , but he also nows how to say random things like good night, good day , sorry ( he uses that one a lot :D ), thank you ( not so often ) ....

Why is it that you folks always teach us the "dirty" words, first!! My Croatian vocabulary is about as fit as being a slimy prostitute over there! But a very polite one at that...hvala! (thank you) Pozdrav! (greetings)

Aw lol I know random words...all from grocery lists when we would go shopping. I think the only word I use is "hvala" ... and sometimes accidentally I'll use it in the states. hahaha

I know only a few dirty words. I think I better catch up. hahaha

Yeah...it wasn't so bad to stay in Dubrovnik during the off season. Things weren't so expensive as it is in the summer months. Plus we paid local prices for such things as walking the walls. And yes, it is very beautiful. I can't wait to be back. :) I want to spend more time though in Zagreb for sure.

Super da si otvorila thread!:dancing::thumbs:

Sad sam tek vidjela koliko dugo cekas NOA2...vau!

:star:
