Do we have to include copies in addition to all of the original documents when sending I-864 and IV to NVC?

Hello everyone,

I have a question about sending the I-864 and the IV packet. I read the shortcuts and I remember it saying to send originals of the documents as well as an extra copy of all documents.

Do I really have to make and send copies of all the original documents that I will be already be including in these packets?

Did you guys send these packets with or without extra copies?

If I send extra copies, do I also have to send copies of the original filled forms as well(ex; a copy of the form I-864)?

thanks in advance

Yes send copies along with the original documents. It won't hurt to follow the instructions. Good luck!

You don't need to send a copy of the forms; just the civil documents for the DS-230 (IV)

Make a complete duplicate of everything you send just in case.

I sent in photocopies of all of the documents submitted to the NVC and realized that the embassy kept copies I made for them and returned originals to me. This probably means that NVC folks will have to make photocopies themselves if you don't provide them. If they already have copies, they probably do not have spend time Xeroxing them. I am thinking if this is the case, your case will be completed faster. This is just my opinion, but it probably wouldn't hurt to make things easier for NVC folks to process your paperwork. I nil-clipped all related documents and attached a small tag. Nil-clips and tags can be removed easily.

ds-230 instructions clearly state to send in regular photocopies with originals.
