Police clearance for AOS interview

HI Everybody

I am writing this post to help others at their AOS interviews.

My husband came here from France and had all of his police clearances done before he went to his interview (K1) at the Paris Embassy. We thought that was the end of it.

There was a difficulty in obtaining his fingerprints for his EAD and AP. The machine could not read anything 2 times!

He finally received both of these documents after a long wait.

We just went to our AOS interview (in Philadelphia)....with all of our piles of papers and documentation to prove that we had a 'genuine' married life - that has only existed for less than 6 months. This was so stressful and my husband was a little nervous because of some french/english language difficulty.

We passed the interview - HOORAY!-and he was granted a 2 yr green card.

Before leaving the officer's desk, my husband wanted to clear up any problems with the fingerprinting.

The officer said "No...hold on! I am denying your petition and NOT granting you AOS!"

He said we needed to submit a state police clearance to verify no criminal activity between the time of my husband's entry into the US and the day of the interview. We wanted to cry! We said that we had already submitted French police clearances to the embassy and that we did not even know that we had to do something like this. What a shock!

So....I wanted to warn others to be FULLY prepared before the interview. Be prepared for the worst case scenario and all might go well

just to finish the story...

we completed and submitted a state police clearance within 2 days. (in can be done online)

Almost two weeks has passed and we have heard nothing. Fingers crossed!

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!! My fingerprints didn't pass 2 times and i haven't received EAD or AP but I have interview in a month! Hope for good luck and easy resolution in soon future for you!!!
