I asked the similar question before and did not get the answer. Please, help if anyone has been in the similar situation:

My daughter (minor-7 year old) is having an interview IR-2 soon.

I will not be able to be there, my mother will accompany here. And here is my CONCERN: as we all know DS 230 Part II needs to be signed. I signed the first part, but now I will not be there to sign for her. Is this OK if she signs on her own?? She can do that.

And if not, CAN my MOTHER sign it??? She has no power of attorney from me (but I can do it if it is necessary)and I don't know if the embassy allows grandpaernts to sign anything.....

I know there were many members whose kids went though all these processes and I WILL APPRECIATE ANY HELP.

I don't want any delays to happen to my daughter.SO please, let me know if you know anything. WHat should I do?

Thanks

i have never been in that situation, but i think you can write a letter authorizing your mother to sign the form and get the letter notarized, and send it to your mother to take to the interview. i am not sure if this will work, but i would suggest that you email the embassy where your daughter will be interviewed, and explain the situation to them, and ask if the above mentioned will be accepted.

I don't want to "flag" the case by sending them an e mail. I will do the Power of Attorney and send it. But I am pretty sure I am not the only one who cannot attend the interview... It is sad but I just did the surgery and I cannot go back with 2month old kid. Plus I am in the removal of my conditions...I will get her over here in spring with the Hope that she will get a VISA

Your daughter cannot sign it - she is minor, but you can send a letter appoint grandparents are the legal guardians while you are away and they should be able to sign it (thecnically)

Not sure if CO would accept it or not.

Thank You ! That's what I am going to do. I will do a Power of Attorney to my mother.
