Hi I have a question about the I-129F, Question number 14.

"Where does your fiance(e) intent to live in the United States?"

Here is my dilemma, I am currently on active duty in the US Army and I reside in on post quarters. Obviously once I am married my fiance(e) cannot live there with me, as it is for single soldiers only, my dilemma is that I do not currently have an apartment, and I will not until she is here and we are married, because thats how the Army operates. So how would I answer this question, since I do not currently have the answer, and I will not before I would submit the form.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For now --(and I stand corrected ) --you can put your parents address , then after you get an apartment off post --you can update your current address .I suggest getting an apt off post (unless if you are in basic training ) .Fron your initial petition to NOA2 approval will be withing 1-2 mths since you are active duty --lol . So I suggest you start making preparations .Good luck on your journey .

You are saying that they tend to approve service member petitions quicker than the general public? Also thanks for your suggestion, if anyone has a different opinion please chime in.

From what I've read/heard here the process is the same for non-military petitioners - including processing times - unless you are immediately deploying to a combat zone or something along those lines. More info about expediting is available on the USCIS website, which is worth checking out. Good luck to you!

Yes I haven't seen anything that says its any faster for military, I know there is a military only phone number to call USCIS, but I don't think they expedite except for what you said, if I was deploying.

Yeah the only way you can get faster service for the military is if you are deploying or possibly if you just returned from a deployment.

My fiance is also in the US Army and since he lives actually in Barracks (though currently deployed), we put his mom's address. We didn't have any problems with that. :) Good luck!

Don't bring your hopes up about being in the Army and getting things faster. It is not. We thought the same. We even call that special supposedly helpline for Military personnel. It still took us over 6 months to get USCIS approval, until my fiance called. My fiance got deployed right before Christmas and we asked Embassy to have an interview earlier because he is deploying, they refused. Everyone says they support the Army, but even a slight assistance or even an understanding wasn't met. So just concentrate on getting all the docs in order and don't think about timing. It will take long, but at the end it's so worth it. :)

My fiance is also military and they expedited it for us because he was going to ranger school and would be out of reach and would not have housing (so there was no way to receive the NOAs.. we didnt want to leave it for months at a PO Box.. It worked and we got our Noa2 in a month. But we had orders. Anyway we were also advised that we could use his parent's house as our address ^.^

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

A) you can only expedite if youre getting deployed, doesnt matter where you go,like even if youre going to,somewhere safe like japan but its considered a " deployment " you can request expedite.

B) for the address, you can put to be determined, cause its the truth, you dont know where YOU are going to live let alone your future wife.we put that in our I-129F package, and it worked, and now we are putting that for our packet 3 stuff

Hmmm for us, we sent in the forms with an expedite request/ cover letter stating why we needed it expedited and it had my fiance and his CO's signature. then after we received the noa1 we called and ask if they approved our expedite request or not (we were expecting they wouldn't because it wasn't for a deployment, he would just be away and out of reach for three months making it hard to receive any notices especially for RFEs) and they looked it up and said that it was indeed expedited and we should get it soon. they did however send the noa2 to the wrong address as expected (we filed from Fort Benning, GA and put PA as the address on all forms) the noa1 was sent to GA and the noa2 in PA so we were in a panic as we thought the noa2 was lost!!! and it would $350 to replace it. turns out they sent it to his parent's house. so anyway i hope it works out for you guys the way you want it to and Goodluck :)
