Hi. We just recently filed AOS at FBAS through FEDEX. Did I send it to the right address or this should have gone to Chicago Lockbox?

We sent it last Jan 4 and Fedex confirmed delivery on Jan 5, but until now, I havent received any notification from them. Is this something I should be worried about? I read that a lot of people processing AOS has been notified and given receipt numbers or whatever 3 days after their couriers delivery notification.

Is the interview with USCIS personnel really necessary? I'm like 6 hrs away from the nearest USCIS office and this worries me. Where will the biometrics be held, at the USCIS office too?

Biometrics is held at the nearest USCIS office, yes. From what status are you adjusting? This will determine whether you sent it to the right place. For example, a K1 visa AOS gets sent to the Chicago Lockbox, but another type would go elsewhere. Read over the instructions carefully.

I came here on a K1 visa. I thought that couriers other than USPS should go to FBAS location, and that only USPS should be sent to Chicago lockbox. I guess Im wrong?

FEDX, UPS or any other private courier CANNOT deliver to the lockbox... that is why in the instructions it gives you the FBAS address for these express type deliveries

Others have answered your questions about the delivery address.

If adjusting from a K1 visa then an interview may or may not be required. It seems about half are scheduled for an interview. If you are scheduled then you must attend. Not attending will result in the green card application being denied.

Biometrics are scheduled at the nearest Application Support Center, which may or may not be the same as the nearest USCIS office. My wife had her biometrics in Oakland, but our interview was in San Francisco.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
