Hi VJers:

Can anyone recommend which delivery service is the most reliable to send the fiance visa document package (or any package) to my fiance in Egypt? I have found that the USPS is not reliable. Any suggestions?

I have sent all my USPS and never had any problem (other than time). If you use express mail to a major city it is not so long. Use one of the other servers if you want to spend alot more money. I still send things to my in-laws using USPS and no issues. The only time I had an issue was the egyptian mail personnel taking packs of candy out of the box....

I always used the USPS too. In fact, I used the flat rate boxes for majority of the stuff I sent.

The only downside to that though once the packages made it to my husband, he ended up paying a substantial fee just to pick it up. Regardless of what I sent him, he always ended up paying any thing from 300 to 600 egyptian pounds

as a graduate student in Cairo, i receive alot of mail from home and no matter what the recipient has to pay the customs fee before they pick it up

dhl is more expensive than fedex

BUT if you send it through USPS specifically global express guaranteed then it gets picked up and delivered by Fedex in Egypt i got a package that way witin 5 business days and it was AWESOME!!! its cheaper than dhl and fedex and still you get the benefit of fedex guarantee and delivery

Here is the link Global Express Guaranteed

Hi, When I mailed through USPS Hany wrote his address for me in Arabic and English with his phone number to my email address,I printed it and attached it to the package. When it arrived in Egypt they called him to come pick it up. It took 10 - 11 days for the packages I have sent. The worst part was they charged him so much to accept it. I had already paid so much to ship it and really that upset me. USPS flat rate was how I shipped, all USPS price rates just went up. Good Luck :)

I've only sent one package to Egypt (docs for the interview). It was sent via Fedex and it got there pretty quickly. I don't recall if my husband had to pay anything to accept it. It was only paperwork in an envelope.

Only Flat Rate prices went up and customs fees are determined by the country they are going to and have nothing to do with USPS. The prices for flat rate boxes increased just slightly and are great for packages to Egpyt (my husband always told me things he would like and advised me of times not to send too much since he had to pay to get the box). If you have any questions about mailing through USPS you can send me a message, I do work for them and might be a little biased but I can tell you from customer experiences of my own and my customers we do offer other options for mailing to other countries. :)

My husband has never recieved any mail I sent, just letters and cards, postage was correct, address in Arabic and English, return address, but they disappeared never to be recieved or returned to me. I have important papers he will need and afraid to mail. any suggestions? Thank you

Send them express mail (he will have to sign for it) IF you can get them into a flat rate express mail envelope it would be great. He should get it in 5 to 7 days usually. It has a tracking number as well.

or

The most secure is registered but can take longer (it stays under lock and key the entire time). Im my opinion express is a great way to send. I hope this helps but if you need anything else you can email me at wrlang2003@yahoo.com is a good way, I dont check visajourney each day. I would be more than happy to help any time. Have a great day.
