DO i need to sponsor my x mother inlaw she already got a paper telling she is my guardian. we will accommodate her stay pay for food but she will have her own money for other expenses and if she wanna go other places. If i wrote a letter of invitation does it need to be notarized of i just send it to her not being notarized and i m sure i need to send tax transcript. she gonna shoulder her flight ticket and she have sufficient money in her bank to prove that she can afford her stay.Does she need ticket already to show on her interview? thanks alot

Do not buy plane tickets before she gets the tourist visa, as it is quite likely she'll be denied and then you loose the money!

You can send a short letter of invitation explaining why you'd like her to come, that you will pay expenses and what you plan on doing while she is in the USA, but it probably won't do much. It could even be seen as negative, as it could be seen as her "working" at babysitting your daughter. She need to qualify on her own for a tourist visa- that is, she needs to be able to show strong ties to the Philippines such as a good job, owning a business or property, enrollment in university, close family etc.

Your ex-mother-in-law (am I reading this right?) needs to show strong ties to the Philippines (meaning she has to prove that she has every intention of returning to the Philippines after accompanying your daughter).

An invitation letter is not a must-have in her application...and if you read the US Embassy Manila website, I'm afraid it doesn't really help. She doesn't need an airline ticket as proof, either; generally it is a bad idea to purchase a ticket without a visa in hand.
