Yes, you can try expedia or any other search company in addition to the actual airlines website also (which I have found to be the cheapest for me). It appears that Delta is a major server to and from MNL. Also, make sure you look at round trip tickets versus one way tickets. They are usually cheaper. Just pick a return date several weeks later. You don't have to use it. For some reason, airlines make one way more expensive than round trip. Also, try looking at different dates as the day of the week can make a HUGE difference in price also. Usually weekends are higher. In addition, different times of the day can make a difference also. I have found that the flights that leave late at night are usually cheaper than the ones leaving earlier. Keep yourself flexible if possible and look at different combinations of days and times. Those last minute deals and sites that claim huge discounts are usually bogus. There are no "HUGE" discounts anymore. Fuel costs along with bad economy have caused airlines to be a little more stringent. Also, waiting to the last minute can also mean that the flight sells out and then you have no options. Airlines have cut back the number of international flights and work towards having the planes completely booked. One other thing, usually with the least expensive ticket there are change restrictions. Once the ticket is purchased, you will pay heavily to make a change to your itinerary. Make sure you understand those before you purchase. Also, have the traveller sign up for that particular airlines loyalty program and bank those miles. I have flown to Brazil 4 times within the past year and have enough miles to redeem for a roundtrip ticket now.

Good luck and a little research goes a long way to help ease the financial burdens of this process.

One last thing... If you do book the round trip.... once here, make sure to cancel the return trip. I read that it may cause a problem with AOS if you do not cancel the return trip. Not really sure why, as you can prove you did not make that trip (Passport stamps etc.....) but no need to test that theory out. Just cancel it once here.. No Problem then....

Here are the threads where AOS was denied because of a not cancelled return trip:

Apparently it can only happen if the airline sell the ticket to someone after you haven't showed up and don't change the names. (So their mistake, but you have to prove it...). Better be on the safe side and cancel it as John & Mari said.

It is better to investigate buying the ticket in the Philippines, NOT online here in the states. Using Expedia etc. I was seeing prices of about 1100(!) one way for late January. My wife looked in Manila, is about 600 including all taxes and fees except the always paid at airport departure tax....

China airlines offers that flight for $645.00 including taxes. I looked at the santraphel site. The first time immigrant visa rates are not good for a K-1 visa. They offered the same china airlines flight for $160 more than you can get directly from the airline yourzelf.
