My husband and I are getting ready to send in the packet for his AOS (hopefully tomorrow!) and someone just mentioned to us that we need to send in 4 copies of each document!? Can that be true?

We can't find anything about that in the instructions, but just wanted to be sure!

Also, the fee of $1070 includes the cost of the biometrics or is there an additional fee for that?

I'm sorry if these are ridiculous questions!

We just want to be sure we do it right!

1 copy of each supporting doc.

fee you quoted includes biometric fee.

Note I-485 and I-765 needs to be able to stand alone each needs a copy of your I-94 card.

You may be thinking the G-325A which use to be a 4 page form, it is now a 1 page form so only 1 copy needed.

Thank you for your quick response!

They may have been referring to the old form...I know they sent in their paperwork a little over a year ago.

Just to clarify, we need to send a single copy of forms I-485, G-325 (for USC and non USC), I-864, I-765, I-130, and I-131 and then two copies of all the other necessary documentation (birth cert's, supporting evidence, marriage cert)?

Or two copies of everything that goes in the packet?

Only one G-325A needed from the person adjusting status, only thing US citizen provides is an I-864 or I-864EZ to provide sponsorship, and a marriage certificate, US Citizen does not provide a G-325A

Only one copy of everything, except I-94 card will need one to be attached to the I-485, and one to be attached to the I-765.

This is not correct if the person is also filing a I-130. If you are, then you need one G-325A for both you and the US Citizen spouse. For the I-485 you need one for the intending immigrant. That is one for USC, two for immigrant total.

Furthermore, if you are also sending in a I-130, $1070 is not enough. $1070 is the fee for the I-485 and all supporting docs/forms, but you also need to send a fee of $420 for the I-130.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Correct, however OP asked about just I-485. Lets assume AOS from a K-1, then again this is posted to the AOS from Work/Student/Tourist visa forum. OP has no timeline and NO indication as to what they are adjusting from.

So, yep, may have to also attach an I-130 along with copies of all supporting docs and fee for the I-130.

The OP mentioned a I-130 here:

In the first post they just said "AOS."

YuandDan, I'm sorry I wasn't more thorough in my original post.

We're applying for an AOS from a TN visa for my husband (I am a USC).

I just wanted to be sure that the $1070 fee for the I-485 included the cost of the biometrics, and along with that clarify how many copies were are to include.

Harpa Timsah, thank you for catching the mention of the I-130. We are filing an I-130 with the filing fee of $420, and also two G-325A's (for USC and non-USC).

We will send the documents (I-485, G-325 (for USC and non USC), I-864, I-765, I-130, and I-131 with only a single copy of each item, two checks ($1070 and $420), supporting evidence, and our photos in plastic bags!

Please let me know if there's anything I've forgotten!

NP

Keep in mind even though sending all together each application and petition needs to be able to stand by it self.

I-130 needs it's own set of documents and cannot share them with I-485.

I-485 needs it's own set of docs and cannot share with I-130 or I-765.

Place each application or petition in separate piles attaching copies of docs that it requires to the application or petition.

Clip or use a rubber band around each application+supporting docs.

If you are sending more than one case in an envelope, clearly separate the cases by rubber band or clip fasteners.
