I am in the process of filling out the I-129f and compiling all of the necessary documents. My fiance is a Pakistani national however he spent the last 5 years in London. He recently moved back to Pakistan. I have a few questions regarding evidentiary proof for the 'meeting w/i past 2 years' requirement:

1) I most recently met my fiance in Pakistan during my trip there in August 2010. Although I don't have the boarding passes (I shredded them when I came back, not realizing I'd need them for this!), I do have my passport with the stamped entry/exit dates + tickets receipt + itinerary. My fiance traveled to Pakistan from London during that month and he has his boarding passes + ticket receipts (no passport stamp though because he traveled on temporary travel documents because he lost his passport). All of this places us both in Pakistan at the same time but I don't have anything beyond that to show that we actually met while there. I have photos of him with my relatives and photos of me with these same individuals but nothing of us together. My mom went with me and she could sign an affidavit saying we met. I wondered if the boarding passes/passports etc. would be sufficient to meet the requirement?

2) Prior to the August trip to Pakistan, I traveled to London three times to visit him. I have my passport with the entry stamps plus hotel receipts from hotwire/priceline. I also have bank statements showing that I purchased items in the UK along with tickets for various sightseeing activities there. I have some photos of us together from these trips but no primary evidence that places us together. If he paid for things, he did so with cash. Any receipts I have are for things I paid for. We have tube tickets, etc. but those don't have our names. The hotel was in my name only each time.

3) Finally, if the London trips do not help establish the 2 year meeting requirement, is there any reason to mention the London trips in Question 18 on the i-129f?

Thanks very much in advance!

As an aside, my fiance and I have known each other since we were babies. We've been in a relationship for two years and I will have plenty of the typical proof showing we are in a bone fide relationship (phone call histories, emails, skype, affidavits from friends, etc.).

Not sure if this helps, but for your #3, I also have some photos, etc. of my fiancé and I from a trip before the 2-year limit and I'm including those under my tab for "proof of ongoing relationship" in my packet. It doesn't qualify for "meeting in the last 2 years," but it shows that we've known each other for awhile so I intend to add it to strengthen my case that this is a "real" relationship. ;)

Our Timeline:

April 2003: We "met" online through a mutual friend.

March/April 2004: He visited me in California and we hit it off, but didn't want to do a long-distance relationship.

July 7, 2009: We got back in touch with each other.

April 15, 2010: My previous relationship ended and we decided that he would come visit me again and see where things went.

May 25 2010: We saw each other again for the first time in six years!

June 23, 2010: We decided to try a relationship.

November 8, 2010: We got engaged!

January 3, 2011: I began to assemble the I-129F packet

March 14, 2011: Mailed out the I-129F packet

March 16, 2011: NOA-1

May 31, 2011: NOA-2

June 13, 2011: NVC received our approved I-129F

June 15, 2011: NVC approved the I-129F and sent it to London

July 1, 2011: He mailed the completed Packet 3 in

July 15: His medical exam

July 29: We called the consulate and got his interview date

September 6: His interview - approved!

September 25: He entered the U.S. with his visa

November 18: WE GOT MARRIED!

Most important thing are the pictures of ur engagement u must send these pictures for the proof with I-129F petition.Other things are secondary..

I cannot stress enough that the above is absolutely false. Photographs of any kind or for any purpose are secondary evidence of meeting in person. Send them, yes. Evidence of meeting, no.

Your Pakistan primary evidence consisting of his boarding passes and your passport stamps will be sufficient primary evidence of meeting. Sounds like all your London evidence is secondary but yes, I would mention it and include photos etc.

Thanks very much for the helpful info. I wasn't sure if USCIS would require anything beyond the boarding passes/passport stamps to show that we were both in Pakistan at the same time. If I was a skeptical official, I would think that just because two individuals are in the same country at the same time, that doesn't necessarily mean they met? But, maybe I am over-worrying :( I will go ahead and include the London trips although it will all be secondary evidence and help establish that we have a bone fide relationship.

I'm working on the paperwork this weekend and had a few more questions...Not sure I need to start a new post about them or not.

I should submit copies only of all the receipts/tickets/etc. from our meetings and save the originals for my fiance to take to the interview correct?

For the passport photos we have to submit for the G-325a, would it be okay to have him get passport photos taken in Pakistan and then scan+email to me? I could print them on photo paper and size them appropriately. I just want to avoid the delays associated with him having to mail me things - postal service from Pakistan can be very slow. Would USCIS give a hard time about that?

The only other thing that has me worried on the G325a is that my fiance was out-of-status in the UK when he left there and returned to Pakistan. He left the UK voluntarily and did not get any bans, etc. I know we have to list his time in the UK on the G325A. But, I am worried about whether the consular officials will give him a hard time about this during the interview -- has anyone on VJ had a similar experience where the beneficiary was illegally present in another country before returning to the home country? I've been going through the country portal and the other posts in the K-1 forum but haven't come across a similar scenario yet.

They are skeptical but also use practical standards. Their standard is if there's primary evidence both were in the same country, that's good enough. That the country is the country of citizenship or official residence of one party, is sufficient evidence they were present in the country, unless there is evidence to the contrary.

Requiring more evidence would be unreasonable, in that it would require a large percentage of couples to arrange an additional visit prior to filing.
