Seriously though, and swiftly returning to topic, what kind of optimist goes to Bangkok and meets a woman 5 times in a week, decides to get married, flies home and files immigration papers ?

I mean most people take longer than that to chose a new kitten

It seems a lot of people on VJ from VWP countries do the same, not just places like Thailand where pretty much the only way to get them to the US is a K-1 visa.......it boggles my mind.

However, there are cultures where you get married at age 7 and are expected to make a go of it.

It's quite egalitarian actually because it subscribes to the idea that we are all basically the same and all we have to do is come to a satisfactory compromise - and then a relationship with virtually anyone is possible

...and there are as many psychos % wise in Thailand as there are in Russia or Colorado or anywhere else

The other side of that is that you might end up with a pscho wherever you look - so you might as well have a nice looking psycho giving you grief, rather than a woofer

Between the general pessimism of the 40+ males on this thread and the promise that my wife will one day turn on me and feed me to the demons, I am no longer looking forward to turning 36 soon. I won't even ask what you guys think about fatherhood; I suspect those stories will be even more depressing. Get ripped apart alive by leprechauns maybe?
