So, my fiance and I are going through the K-1 process, we received our NOA1 last week and I was wondering what documents could I get in order to have everything ready for the interview once we get the next packet, I know the medical exams are valid for 1 year but I'm not sure how long before the interview could I get the police certificates, would anyone know?

For consulate purposes the PC is valid for up to one year..

moving thread to:

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV

It's good for one year.

If you intend to preceed with the process as quickly as possible, I would recommend preparing all forms and gathering all required documents right away. It would be especially important to gather all required documents as there can sometimes take your fiancee some time and there can be delays. If you do prepare the forms in advance make sure you check to see the version of the forms are still current prior to the interview as they are updated from time to time.

Visit the Brazil embassy web site... the following 2 pages are the ones you will be most interested in. http://brazil.usembassy.gov/interview/forms-for-fiancee-visas.html & http://photos.state.gov/libraries/164149/pdfs/InstInterv_letterFiancee_Eng_oct09.pdf

One of the most confusing things about this process now is to remember that even though a K1 is a non immigrant visa, it's processed as an immigrant visa because the intent is that your fiancee will ultimatly immigrate, so the info. you need to find concerning the K1 visa on the embassy web site will be found under the immigrant visa section.

Those links are definitely gonna be really useful! We know how painful the process is and that is why we wanna gather all the info, forms and documents together before we get the second packet, so when the time comes we will have everything ready and good to go! :) Thank you all for the help! :)
