Does no harm but just to call to call ties up representatives for those who are expecting a status change and/or needs to speak with an agent. If you are not expecting a case status change and are not due for one, why call?

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

I called 2 times in one day and got the same agent who was highly PISSED. He said he'd put a note in my folder and said not to call again for at least 30 days. He didn't say what he would do if I did. I didn't!

Easy to lose a file.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Well... if there are people like me out there.. Who didnt send in a form to expect a status change or due for one why call..? There could be several reasons allow me to say -- > People might have questions about a form... Questions about a mail or email correspondence that we would like to call about... we may want to request special proccessing.. I say call and get all the questions you have answered.. I did and I guess that is why I went from USCIS TO the great NVC without a single RFE because i sure had a few questions and was stoppable by no one who is not paying the visa fees etc I had to pay - end of point.

There's nothing wrong in calling the NVC a lot of times as long as you really need an assistance. That's their job anyways. But be proactive rather than reactive. You might encounter a shitty operator but just be patient and be nice. -)

My question was directed to the person who started the thread, not to you. There are reasons to call but just to call to call when there are no questions and no expected status change is not warranted.

and warm your heart and home.

wherever you may roam.

You can sit around as claudia said or be proactive ... Your choice, your case. It was completed after the time interviews are typically scheduled... Note though that the NVC will schedule interviews even in the 3rd week for some consulates. Guess you could check again at the end of the second week in january.
