I use a checking account with no problem. On xoom's website they just say a bank account. I think though that you are only allowed 6 withdrawals (and only three of certain types of withdrawals which I think would include Xoom) from a savings account per month. Just open a checking account linked to your savings account.

I want to send right now suppose to be and will use my savings account if possible. My checking has no money in it as of the moment, and it is from a different bank from my checking account.

We fell for Xoom's lie about transferring money "instantly", and tried their offer for the first transfer free.

They confirmed when I was done and said "your money is on its way". So on the strength of two lies in a row, I told our family in the Philippines the money had been sent.

Then we got an email that said the money would not be there for at least four business days. I knew they were making money from the exchange rate too, and I didn't mind that so much as the lies. Our family had already left for the day and we couldn't stop them from making the trip in vain.

I don't know if that is the normal length of time it takes to send money with Xoom, but I don't like being lied to, and they lied to us.

Probably if you look in the user agreement you will find some legal clause saying they can delay sending money for whatever reason. That happened to me the first couple of times I sent money over $100.00. Now my money is available just about instantaneous on smaller amounts and within 20 minutes or so for larger amounts. What I find strange is that the money is picked up by my wife days before it even shows up as a pending transaction when I check my banking on-line. Overall though I have to say I have been pleased with the service. I do have an account with BPI and thought about sending money through Wells Fargo but have not done so yet.

Well take notice of what rlogan mentioned about potential delay and if ok with that then try it. IF they can't do the transfer I am sure you will be notified. I would suspect you wouldn't have any problems.

I have been using xoom for quite some time now. I sent very often when my wife was planning our wedding. It was always in her BDO account within 3 hours. Never had a problem.

if it's your first time sending money through xoom and u use your bank account it usually takes several days for them to verify with your bank. i used to use xoom but they are increasing their fee which i think is wack. it used to be 4$. anyway, if the money being sent is a large amount ($400+) then xoom will hold the money and verify with the bank first. if its less than 300$ it goes through and the beneficiary can pick up the money within minutes. i used to LOVE xoom, but now i dont use it much. i used LBC remittance instead. they have a ATM card and only charge $3 per remittance
