Well it’s almost time however I feel I am missing something! Maybe I am getting this feeling because everything has gone so smooth so far.

Am I missing anything?

K1 VISA

 Entry packet and X-ray (do not open)

 CFO

 Air plane tickets (POE – Detroit)

 Winter coat, boots and gloves – this will be something new for her…..

What is the process for the CFO at the airport? Last time I was at the airport I saw there was a CFO office and counter. Do we need to check in there? Or do we just pick up our tickets and exit through customs?

Only 20 days to go…

Jim

Manila. Just give them your passport the CFO is for the PI only, CFO stamp and sticker is in your passport. You’ll need to pay the airport exit fee out of Manila. US Customs at your POE will not need the x-ray CD passport and brown packet only.

Tell her to BE SURE to hand the CBP officer that processes her in the US POE that she give him her mysterious DO NOT OPEN envelope to the CBP officer.

You would be surprised of the stories of ladies who have the envelope with them as they are hugging their lucky man at the ARRIVALS section of the airport.

If the CBP doesn't get the envelope, honey won't be put in the official US database.

Congratz, and what a merry christmas YOU will have. Be sure to unwrap your present carefully!

Looks fine from my perspective. CFO in Manila is just a quick look at her passport to see if her sticker/stamp is there before passport control. Took all of 5 seconds. Make sure you have a camera ready to capture her expression when she feels the Detroit winter...........priceless. LOL

I am flying over to get her so I will make sure the CBP at the POE gets the packet. Also going to try and talk the CBP into stamping her I194 with early work release so she can work right away.

Sounds like the CFO at the Manila airport is nothing special, so that is good to hear.

My to-do list before she gets here:

Install “coded” thermostat so I don’t come home to a house with the heat set on 85F.

Hide motorcycle keys (She thinks she can ride my motorcycle but I keep telling her there is a big difference between 125cc and 1200cc)

I am so excited!!!

About the work authorization - I'm sorry to tell you, but she will not be able to legally work until she receives her Employment Authorization Document. This EAD is part of the Adjustment Of Status paperwork that you would need to complete and send after getting married. She cannot work right away if she is coming with a fiancee visa. The EAD takes about 3 months to get approved.

Even if she doesn't drive, do everything possible before she leaves so that she can be issued a driver's license in her country. If she has a license, renew it for the longest term possible. Later, you'll appreciate having done this.

Also, have her procure at least one extra certified copy (preferably two copies) of her birth certificate, divorce decree (if applicable), and other such vital documents. Also, having at least one extra copy of her vaccination record is potentially important -- ask her doctor's office to print two copies and sign/stamp both.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
