RFE Response - will this be sufficient?

We received an RFE about a week ago.

It states that we need to send a "properly filled and signed" I-693. (I'm paraphrasing because I don't have the letter with me right now). The wording of the RFE makes me think that the problem might be that I didn't sign the form... Or that they lost it.

I called USCIS and they told me that a letter of explanation would be on its way shortly. In the mean time, I went to my doctor and asked for a second copy. She gave me a photocopied version of the initial medical, but assured me that both my and the doctor's signature were not copied. (They photo copy the original and make you sign one copy, keep one for themselves and give you one. I'm guessing they sealed a copy I hadn't signed and kept the one I had signed for themselves.)

Now, assuming that she is right and that those signature are original, will the fact that the paper work is a photocopy be an issue?

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

10/10 ------- USCIS Medical Done

That doesn't make sense....Why didn't they just photocopy the completed signed version for their records and seal the original? You'll have to wait to see what the RFE says to be sure. If the issue is indeed, that the I-693 wasn't signed by you or by the doctor, that is an easy fix as your doctor has the records and can easily transcribe to a new form for proper signature.

I already have the RFE. I was told by USCIS that I would get a letter explaining in more details what the issue is. It's being very vague and saying that I need a "properly filled and signed" I-693. Almost as if they are saying I did not mailed one.

Anyway, after making this post, I called my doctor and asked about the copy. The person I spoke to said that the initial secretary was wrong and that I need an original. I will have to stop by and get a brand new original.

Kind of a pain they send 2 separate notices. Seems like a waste of postage and paper.

I know, right? Why were they not more precise on the RFE or why are they mailing me a second letter? Couldn't she have just told me on the phone?

Also, the wording makes it seems like I'm being scolded by a teacher.

"*sigh* Kitty, did you bring a PROPERLY filled and signed form? No, you didn't."

"What do you mean, miss? It was filled and I'm sure I signed it. Could you tell me what I did wrong?"

...
