Hi All, so I received an e-mail for AOS bill and D-3032, so i plan to fax it to my husband so he can sign fax it back and e-mail it to NVC, my question is can I get him to sign the D-230 and fax it back to me or does he have to send the original from Jamaica, since I am the agent can I send it?

Also I was suppose to go visit, but he would prefer me to wait for when the interview is scheduled, I read some threads and they say that the petitioner is not allowed in the interview, so does it make sense for me to go there..I was hoping we could come back together but some people say it takes 5 days where other say it takes longer than 2 weeks if he is approved...any suggestions?

You can have him send in the ds-3032 via email to NVC check out this guide http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form.

DS-230 has to be signed by him as NVC will need to see the signature in ink. He can send from Jamaica to NVC directly if he is the COA selected.

Citizenship next step!

actually i am the COA, so do I have to mail him the D-230 and have him sign it and send it back to me

What I did was have him express mail me the signed ds-230 two passport sized photos and some of the civil documents requested... because I had the rest of the documents needed. When I received everything I added on the papers that I had and sent it all to the nvc along with a set of copies.

Each consulate is different. You could call your consulate prior to interveiw and ask if you are allowed to accompany him. The worst they can do is say no.

Happy Holidays :)

Y.e.s the original signature is required no exception. Where jamaica is concerend for your visa/interview type it is not common (now-a-days) for the petitioner to accompany the applicant to the interview. You can contact the consulate to see if this would be allowed. If you do show up and allowed in you may be asked to wait in the "general area or court yard" and the applicants would be allowed to go inside and if you are needed then the request would be made and if they want to interview you then you can go in .. of they may just issue a Blue Slip

The visa is typically ready after 7 days. The DHL agent will set the expectation that you can start tracking the package after 7 days. Now you will not know if your case would go under AP even after you have been approved and passport was dropped off as happed to our most recent member from Jamaica - Time Tested who had to wait 3 months even after approval

If I were in your situation, I think I would hold off the visit till around the interview time - Although you aren't allowed in, there have been people who got blue slipped to have a spousal interview - Jamerican was the most recent, they just got approved this week and I don't think she's back yet so we don't have full details of her interview.

There was someone that was waiting outside the embassy for their SO, and the embassy sent for the spouse to come in. Personally, I would rather be there and make sure they knew I was there then have to go back a month later.

Quick question does he need to get a police certificate twice? I am noticing that it is required for D-230 and for the interview as well, can you use the same one twice or does he have to get another one? how long does it take to get? and should I tell him to go for it now or wait for d-230. Certified Marriage Certificate- do we receive this back at the interview, we only have two copies and I know it takes a while to get one from the consulate correct?

Thanks.. for the help

You will receive all your original documents back after the consulate is finished with your case. The police certificates have an expiration date. my husband's country is valid for three months so I sent one in the ds230 packet to NVC. But if our interveiw is after january he will need an updated one to bring with him at interview.
