So I have a dilemma.......

Hello all, not been on here for a while.

I have a dilemma and I want your opinions on what you think I should do.

My current passport is still in my maiden name and old English address. It doesn't run out till 2019 as I had to replace it in nov 08 just before my k1 interview after a photocopier melted the ID page. So as you can tell I feel a bit miffed on having to pay again so soon.

I already have my conditional greencard in my married name. I remove conditions in summer 2011.

I was going to change my name on my passport earlier this year but we were due to fly bk to uk in April for our delayed hunnymoon. Of course it got delayed again because of the volcano and we went in September. I took our marriage certificate just in case because greencard and passport were in dogface surnames. But the immigration officer didn't even question it or ask for our marriage cert and let me in. That's the second time I entered the country with them in two different names and it not being a problem (first time was a matter of weeks after I got greencard) perhaps because both Poes were not airports it made a difference I don't know. We plan on going bk to uk next may for another holiday. So I thought about sending off my passport now so it's changed for then (it has to go to washington and back and costs $200 and something) bur there's a very good chance we will end up moving next year from this address. I don't want to go through all that effort and money if I'm gunna want to change the address again in a year. It seems like a waste of money but then I'm thinking of removal of conditions and may trip. Would it cause problems for me then (the Poe in may I'm guessing might go like the other two and not be a problem. But I'm not sure. Would they question why I haven't updated it at removal of conditions?

Hi Hannah. I've been travelling for the past 4 years with my GC in my married name and my passport in my former name. Not once has it been a problem, nor have I had to show my marriage certificate so I've long since stopped bringing that with me. Anywho.... the GC and the passport back each other up anyway. I never worry about the address being incorrect -- or even there -- either. I'm a worrier but I'm not that much of a worrier. lol

Thanks krikit, looking at my passport, they don't print the address on it anymore since they went to the chip. I wonder if it really needs to be a new passport if it's just a change of address?? Hmmmm perhaps I should do it now then just so I can say married in uk tooo! lol

Hi Hannah--

I just finished our removal of conditions packet today. The passport isn't part of it. All they ask for identity-wise, is a photocopy (front and back) of your green card.
