I have a few questions leading up to my December 1st interview at the Montreal Consulate:

What do I need to bring to the interview with regards to documentation?

- The letter I received from the NVC confirming my interview date showed that they had all the documents required (indicated by the document status descriptions). However, it also states the following "Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview." I submitted everything as originals when I filed with the NVC (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.), and as a results, don't have an original to bring with me to the interview. Is this okay? What other documents should I be bringing with me (sealed medical exam results, passport, x2 passport photos, etc.)? Do I need any proof of my relationship with my wife (if so, what specifically is helpful)?

Courier service:

- I went to https://www.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/p to sign up for the DHL courier service at the advice of my lawyer. However, when I logged in using my passport number and date of birth, it indicates that I don't have an appointment scheduled (interview). Has anyone else has these problems. I seem to have signed up for the DHL courier service, but it still indicates that I currently have no appointment scheduled and offers March 2, 2011 at 8:30am as the next available. I am quite concerned as to why their system does not see my December 1st, 9am appointment at the Montreal Consulate.

- Does the courier ship your passport/visa directly to your house, or do you need to travel to the closest DHL location to pick it up?

- How long does it typically take to receive after a successful interview?

Other questions:

- Will my wife (US citizen who is filing the CR-1 on my behalf) be able to join me in the interview, or at least be admitted into the waiting area in the Consulate? The reason that I ask is that the information I have read from the usvisa-info.com website indicated a very restrictive list of individuals:

The following persons may not be allowed into the U.S. Consular Section

premises:

Attorneys: An applicant may not be accompanied by his or her attorney(s).

Drivers, friends, extra relatives, and others not specifically named above

cannot be permitted to enter and will be asked to return to meet the

applicant after the interview is complete.

Due to the limited size of the Consular Section waiting rooms, the high

volume of visa applicants, and the time required to screen consular

clients, other accompanying persons cannot and will not be admitted to the

Consular Section.

- What time should I line up outside the Consulate in Montreal prior to my 9am interview? I have heard some people suggest lining up around 6:30am because the system is first-come-first-serve.

Apologies for all of the questions, I just want to be prepared!

Thank you,

Josh
