Hi guys,

I know im being completely impatient (im hoping with the long wait ahead ill soon realise patience IS a virtue!) but im wondering how long it takes for them to clear the cheque for the I-130

Do they send it to the service center first, or do the cash it in Chicago?

They only recieved my packet yesterday, and im already refreshing online banking like crazy!

When I first spoke to the USCIS it can take up to 10 working days, I was told. Its not usually that long though.

Patience might be a virtue, but this process leaves one humble and pretty much at the mercy of a beauracratic disaster, maybe things will speed up for new filers though as we hit a slow point while at USCIS, and we are thankful to be out of it now.

Mine took about 5 business days to go through the account. Be patient; it will go through eventually. And then once your USCIS case # is generated, you can constantly refresh the website there to see if there have been any touches. :devil:

Mine took about two and a half weeks. That's quite a bit longer than average, and the check didn't actually get cashed until the day after I received the text/email notification that they had received my petition (also a bit unusual). Hopefully yours won't take that long, but I wouldn't panic until it's been three weeks.

USCIS – 171 days
08.03.2010: Sent I-130 (Received at Chicago Lockbox on 08.05.2010 – Priority Date)
08.24.2010: NOA1 – Notice Date (Case transferred from CSC to TSC on 11.02.2010 and back to CSC on 02.07.2011)
02.11.2011: NOA2 – Approved! (hard copy received on 02.17.2011)

NVC – 46 days
02.26.2011: Got NVC case number from AVR (entered on 02.24.2011)
02.28.2011: Called operator to give email addresses and get IIN; emailed beneficiary's change of address and DS-3032; received instruction emails from NVC; AOS fee bill invoiced and paid
03.01.2011: AOS fee shown as "paid"
03.03.2011: DS-3032 accepted; beneficiary's address updated by NVC; IV fee bill invoiced and paid

I had the same problem as well.

The reason was Chicago Lockbox had an address change on 08/03/2010. Though they properly routed all to the right address, some people had noticed a delay at that time.

Anyway, we have only 11 more days for the interview :star:
