This song was popular in the mid 90's even on MTV I believe. Maybe someone, anyone, would have heard it too?? I loved the song also haha so much so that I learned the song on my guitar. Can still play that bass line. MxPx is the main reason I wanted to start learning how to play guitar from my dad when I was 16. Funny stuff.

So does that mean you are my parents' age?? Or you have an old soul. I'm thinking now that you are just old.

Wow, some of you have really far out there tastes in music, even at a young age. I'm curious how you were exposed to some of the more obscure music if it wasn't being played on the radio at that time?

I found out about music through my circle of friends. Most of us liked the same styles. Word of mouth, indie music labels that were started by Christians but the music was not always explicitly Christian like in MxPx's case. A lot of it started on the West coast and spread. Like an underground music world.

I've heard of mxpx and slick shoes. one of my boyfriends was a guitar player for a punk band and was really into punk/ska.

There are a lot of really strange people here.

Well, I'm thinking about the limitations of access to the more obscure music. I was a teenager in the 80's, before we had CD's. I did have a Walkman cassette player and I do remember recording albums onto to cassettes, but I didn't have a load of cash to go out and buy a lot of albums, so I was basically at the mercy of the radio stations to play new music.

pantera (w/ phil)

(old) metallica

slayer

sepultura

and stuff like that.

+1

Pantera really kinda sucked before Phil, and have sucked since he left.

Metallica started to suck when they kicked Dave Mustaine out of the band. But Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, Kill em All, and Garage Days Revisited (AKA the $5.98 album) were good albums. I think I started to despise the band when Lars became so vocal against napster. Their music sucked after that anyways, and now they might as well be fleetwood mac.

phil was big improvement. a friend of mine still has the album prior to phil...pfft pantera was a glam/hair band until phil...some of his super joint ritual stuff is pretty good too....still can't believe that douche shot & killed dave on stage. (F)

lars did get & still has a huge ego problem. IMO he is the equivalent of gene simmons w/ drums

There's a lot of stuff I will listen to now if it's on the radio because I remember my parents listening to it when I was little. As a teen I liked a bit of everything. My grandparents always hosted exchange students so I was exposed to a lot of music from all over while growing up.

no not really. i was into the rough crunchy guitar riffs or all out chaos w/ some screaming for vocals. i'm really starting to dig on country now.

Yeah, it's funny how people gravitate towards certain kinds of music over others. I had two older brothers who listened to groups like Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull, but they pretty much laughed at heavy metal groups. They also thought disco sucked  so I had to listen to it when they weren't around.

My mom had bought a Neil Diamond album and since we only had about a dozen or so albums to listen to, I played Neil Diamond over and over. My parents listened to things like the music from Fiddler on the Roof or Rogers and Hammerstein.

Except Gene is a great showman and ALWAYS gives a great show. Lars is a douche. I can remember him getting on the mic at a GNR/Metallica concert back in the 90's and lecturing people about downloading. I paid $75 for tix to see two great rock bands, not get lectured by a mediocre talent drummer. #######.
