What strikes me as so odd is how these porn actors/actresses are able to switch from being banged on a shag carpet to the red carpet. Something's really wrong with our society imo when that can happen so easily.

But she didn't do it to 'turn over a new leaf'....she did it while growing a porn empire. She used her 'celebrity' as a porn actress to cross over to mainstream Hollywood. And while I will defend her right to be a porn star, I find the notion of 'celebrity' as a porn star to be quite baffling. More so, I find it an insult to the trained and accomplished actors/resess to have to regard a common ####### as a peer.

I don't want my kids growing up in a world where porn stars are not only widely accepted, but regarded with awe. Sorry.

Clearly there is for many included Jenna,

so much so that she not only quit her on camera role...... she also sold off her Porn business.

When people are young fame carries a lot of importance..... when people get a little older, often the need for respect over shadows it.

A porn star gets respect for a very few things... and by a limited number of people... her kids are not likely to be in that crowd and she knows that.

I did some light reading, and I happen to think this is all 'spin'...she and her ex built that business and have since split. I think the sale was also, if not primarily, for that reason.

And let's face it...she's 36. Now, I'm not calling her old by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm sure there are tons of men (and women) who would love her to continue her porn career into the future. But with new, younger 'starlets' on the horizon every day, she was at the twilight of her porn career anyway. Best to go out on top than to have a dwindling fan base in future.

Your kids are going to grow up in a world where people receive notariaty for all sorts of behavior. It's up to you as a parent to teach them how to measure the character of those people. You are going to have be mighty careful if you are going to defend, say, someone's right to be a porn star, but then tell your children that the occupation defines the person negatively. Are you going to teach them that, say, anyone who is a clergy person is worthy of respect? That the garbage man is not?

And whether or not Jenna Jameson earns any peerage with other celebrities remains to be seen. She wouldn't be the first starlet in Hollywood to have been in porn, you know.

"celebrities" are not ones to look up to anyway, many of them did not get where they got doing the right thing. with all the money and fame many drown themselves in drugs, alcohol, and fall into depression because they dont have self respect and their life is not focused where it should be...

you're probably correct... spin = "get it before it's gone" to boost sales (i.e. "limited edition" or "gone soon" or "selling fast")... at 36yo that type of career she would be put out to pasture.

I know she's not, but I brought up my opinion because it's relevant to this discussion. Years ago, Traci Lords made it onto Melrose Place. I'm dating myself here, lol. But she was a sh!t actress, and I resented her being on the show. She was a no talent acting #######, yet her 'status' got her on the show, and also created a lot of buzz at the time.

I'm not saying hollywood in any way should be revered at all, perhaps I should have been more clear about that and not used the 'my kids growing up' expression. What annoys me is the mainstream acceptance of porn stars. Which I find strange. I'm not sat here crying over the demise of Hollywood because Jenna Jameson is trying to legitimize her career, or in any way trying to say that everyone in Hollywood is and should be a role model for kids...what people do behind closed doors, or what people have done to break into Hollywood is their business...just don't be so fking proud of being a #######.
