My wife and I recently filed the I-130 petition. We married at the beginning of September in the U.S.. Me being the paranoid soul that I am, am wondering if I need to register the marriage in the UK. By not doing so, will it effect out case in anyway?

Just wondering...

No, I do not think it is necessary for your petition, the only thing USCIS is concerned with is that it was a legal marriage. :)

We married in the US and as there is no legal requirement to register a foreign marriage in Canada I never pursued it any further and it was never an issue.

Good luck on your journey.

Married is married. No need to register a marriage in another country.

From the FCO website:

"You are unable to register an overseas marriage/civil partnership in the UK. As a general rule, as long as your marriage/civil partnership is valid and legal in the country in which it took place, it is likely to be recognised in the UK. If you are in doubt as to the legality of your marriage/civil partnership, please consult a solicitor. You can deposit your marriage/civil partnership certificate with the General Register Office (GRO) for safe-keeping. If you are in the UK, we can do this for you. If you live overseas you can apply for this service through your nearest British Embassy or Consulate."
