1. Once you renew your passport they will not keep the old one but clip the corner so its not valid or usable.

2.YES,during medical they will keep your original passport.

suggestion:

if there is time to renew your passport go ahead, as it is a big hassle renewing here in states plus more expensive.

Getting to keep old passport

- Whenever I renewed my passport (the latest was this year 2010), I always got to keep the old one. They just punched two holes through it.

Getting to keep passport after the medical exam

- If your interview is still many months away or you're not sure when the interview will be and you have an impending trip for which you will need your passport, you can tell St. Lukes and they will let you keep your passport. That's what I did (this year). The St. Lukes employee gave me two pieces of paper on which I had to write my reason for wanting to keep my passport. I signed it and they kept those papers (I assumed they're going to forward one copy to the Embassy).

When you renew your passport they will return the old one and cut the edge at the back like a little triangle meaning it is not valid anymore. This is an international site, its a common courtesy that when you want to ask help or comments from other members you should post it in the English Language. Through this more members could post help and understand what your trying to say and ask here. If in any case you want it in Tagalog Language, which you know that only your fellow countrymen will understand, you should write it properly as well. The words should be written in full words and not in jejemon language.
