Hi,

I have a question. I live in Canada. I've not worked and have no income whatsoever, no interest no dividends, nothing. I filed tax returns now for the last 8 years since I will be returning to the US all with -0- income.

I will not be using earned income for the affidavit of support, we will be using only assets which are allowed. We meet the requirement.

Question is will copies be enough. Why do I need transcripts if I am not using any earned income. I can show the copies from the accountant who filed them for me but I've not ordered transcripts. Do I really need them if they are not proving any assets, income or anything as such??

The free of charge transcripts are the preferred format. In most instances they are not required.

If you were not required to file US tax returns then you would provide (per the form I-864 instructions) a written explanation to that effect.
