I think your joking, but it's not all that far fetched. People do stop treatment when they see the first bill. It's a big reason why many people avoid going to the doctor in the first place.

Being from Canada, I still remember how strange it was the first time I worked in a US hospital. People spending so much time talking about paying their bill and how much it might be. People thinking that we were just doing tests to make money.

US Hospitals do overtest sometimes due to the nature of malpractice suits, so that's a fair assumption in many areas.

The only reason these meters don't exist is because you medical establishment types don't want us to have visibility into your cost structure.

Most of us don't know or care about the cost structure. That's why I couldn't tell you the cost of any testing I do. Probably that's why I don't know anything about the "rate chart" you were talking about.

It's silly to discount peoples opinion just because a fat rich guy agrees with them.

It's easy to agree with someone like that when you aren't at the shitty end of the health system. Also some people idolise media personalities like rush because they're motivated more by ideology than pragmatism.

That's already how group health insurance has worked for years now. Everyone where I work has preexisting conditions covered. Everyone has the same premiums, varying only for single, spouse or family coverage.

Basically Rush is getting pissed about private health insurance being forced to work like group health insurance, the "group" in this case being the whole country. We don't hear as many complaints about the employer based health insurance system and yet it does exactly the same thing that Rush is whining about with preexisting coverage and premiums.

I'm sure Rush has benefitted from this system to. He doesn't exactly have a clean bill of health. If employer's were not forced to cover preexisting conditions, he might not have health insurance either.

Bottom line, Rush is as big of a hypocrite as ever.
