the ds-230 form asks for information about your mother do they run background checks on them? the thing is my mom is living illegally in the us, i hav'nt spoken to her about 2 years now and i don't know exactly where she is, would that affect me getting my visa? has this happen to anyone on here?

You can't control what your mother does. If you don't even know where she is, then all you can put is her name, date of birth and "whereabouts unknown" in the address area. I doubt very seriously that it will effect your application. You're doing things the RIGHT way. ;)
