After I-129f Is Sent, What If There Is A Change Of Address?

Hello All,

O.K., we sent in our petition for my Beloved Joynelyn's visa, but something took place the other night at her boarding house that has us wanting for her to change her address. You see, where she lives is actually a business, but they have two rooms that they rent out to boarders (4 to a room and only women and girls). At night there is no one there for security. Last night a boarder there discovered some men building a human ladder to reach the second floor where the rooms are and my Beloved's room is the room that has the window. Now this is in the Philippines, Cebu City to be exact, and the window isn't really a window. I mean, it has no glass or lock, but only a screen. I stayed with her on the phone to comfort her until her cell phone battery ran out. Today when I finally got in contact with her again, we discussed how she should move to a better secured place. So here is my question. What problems could this cause with our petition for her visa? We don't even have a case number yet, as we haven't received our NOA1 at this time. Actually, while writing this I realize that all I probably just have to do is inform immigration to the change of address, but will this cause any delays?

Well, at this time she is shopping for a t-ball aluminum bat as I asked her to do, so that she may greet any possible intruder at her window.

What a horrible situation and a worry for both of you.

When your petition is at a service center you should call the NCSC toll-free number 1800 375 5283 to report a change of address. Just ensure that they indeed do change it. If there is delays in them updating it in the system it can cause delays if say eg they send out a RFE to the old address. The best advice is if possible to arrange for redirection of mail. Do they do that there? If not, I would also email your service center with the change of address details but also check back with them via the above phone number to ensure that indeed the change of address has been updated.

Hey Himaya Ko. Your service center will want you to fax a letter into them stating your fiancee's address change but you better stay on top of them and follow up until you can confirm it is done.

I faxed over the request 3 weeks before our I-129F went to the NVC and it did not get changed. I then faxed NVC 2 requests while it was there and it still did not get changed.

However, NVC did step up to the plate as they did file a request to the Embassy in Manila for me for it to be moved to my fiancee's US Embassy in Vancouver where she lives now. If the CSC or NVC would have been able to change it before it left the NVC it would have saved an additional 2 to 3 weeks delay for the trip it took to Manila and back to Vancouver instead of from New Hampshire to Vancouver.

The notices will be mailed to you at your address and not your fiancee's so until you get your NOA2 her address isn't really a big deal.

Just make sure to start working on your Service Center as soon as you get a WAC # (that's when they will be able to identify your case, in other words your NOA1) for them to change her address and follow up with them twice a week until they can verify it has been changed.
