Hi everybody,

You wont believe it, but we sent our check named to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services- USCIS and not US Department of Homeland Security!! :o

For some reason I did not see this info on the K1 guide, and was just reading some posts some minutes ago, and saw a post regarding to that!!! Do you think we are trouble because of this? Are we going to get a RFE???? :(

Our package was sent off yesterday, and it hasn't even gotten there yet. I am so worried, please your comments on this!

I think they will return the check back to you. But don't worry the moment they open your package, it is the first thing that they will check and will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

05/08/2010 - Officially engaged!! ( He sent the engagement ring 09/24/2010 and he proposed to me on bended knee in Philippines with the second part of engagement ring) *melting*

It depends who you ask, really. Sometimes they cash them anyway, sometimes they return them. If they return it, do not panic. It will only be a delay of a few days and won't matter at all in the long run. :) No need to panic!

We actually did the same thing, and found out only through the newer threads in here! We had ours shipped yesterday too.

We realized this morning though that the package was still at the Fedex autoship center though so my FI went there and exchanged the check with a new one. Has yours been picked up too?

Well there have been some people too who say that it might go through anyway -- hang in there, good luck!! :)

I accidently put my fiance's birthday as 2/16/2010 instead of 2/16/1984. A simple phone call took care of it. It may not hurt to give a call and find out. They were extremely helpful and very kind to me.

As others have said, sometimes they'll take the cheque and sometimes they don't. You won't get an RFE, they'll just the whole petition back to you if they decide not to accept it.

Hi everybody!

How are you doing today?

Some hours later after I posted this question about the check, I talked to my fiancé and he confirmed that on the last minute he saw this information that the check is supposed to be named to US Department of Homeland Security, and changed it! But he forgot to tell me! :bonk: Haa....

So our check was not named to USCIS like I posted here. I am sorry!

well, thanks to all your replies, I confess that I did panic yesteday about this! :blush:

easyukraine, please let us know if they will cash normally! As Norwood said, he didnt have a problem about that, so hopefully it will be ok!

You will be fine i did the same thing and strated to freak out all they do is stamp "dept of homeland security" on top of where you handwrote in USCIS and they cash it. Dont worry just sucks we have to pay a decent fee only to wait in line forever just to be able to hug our other half .. take care
