Average time in NVC depends on how aggressive you are in NVC process.

Best record is 13 days. OBX and me completed in 18 days. General average is 1 to 1.5 months for most of the people. If you depends on regular NVC mail method, it can take many months too.

Consulate interview schedule depends on how busy is the Consulate. It can be answered to the people in your country.

To be proactive in NVC, some guides below

Department of State Official link - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/nvc/nvc_1335.html

Also, follow LingChe shortcut (http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut) for fastest NVC processing. Current record is 13 days using LingChe shortcut in the past.

Here is my link - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse - I was lucky to finish NVC in 18 days.

OBX is another record holder (source - Saylin's NVC sheet, Thanks Saylin!) and she completed NVC process in around same timeline of mine.

Some countries such as Canada, Mexico etc. have NVC Electronic Processing as well. Here is EP Guru Darnell's link - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

Official site of NVC Electronic Processing and to see if you qualify - http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4409.html

A link to the NVC processing timeline spreadsheet Loto mentioned: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AtbvTEwLyHz1dDhjM3lXTEl1cW1SbjRwdW9YRGlIanc&hl=en#gid=0

It's in no way 100% complete, but it will give you a good idea on how long it's taking people to get through NVC.
